Employment: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide functional Supervision to Area Inspectors and support them in performing their assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Ensure that daily on-stream inspection activities, including external, non-destructive and progress parameters inspectors, are in accordance with Safety Company Policy and Inspection Philosophy & Policy.
- Provide assistance and support to the Turnaround Inspector during major turnarounds and ensure that all Inspection preparation activities are complete and carried out.
- Follow-up on Inspection Contractors, as necessary, check on quality of work, develop a list of activities and enforce compliance with the agreed contract.
- Participate in the development, implementation and updating of the Inspection Strategies and Risk-Based Inspection Plans in line with SATORP’s objectives and industry best practices.
- Encourage and control the implementation of Refinery Standards in areas of health, safety, quality and performance, and ensure that Area Inspectors are familiar and well-informed with the same.
- Provide technical expertise to Area Inspectors and ensure their adherence to established operational procedures and standards.
- Feed back to Superintendent Inspection with regards to Area Inspectors’ performances and provide recommendations on their training and development needs.
- Provide technical support and expertise to Maintenance Teams on static pressure equipment inspections, evaluations, repairs and modifications, and follow-up on critical repair and maintenance works.
- Participate in the investigation of work accidents/incidents ensuring the effective implementation of SATORP’s safety policies and adequate maintenance of static pressure equipment.
- Review and approve all major modifications to the Process Units, Utilities and Static Pressure Equipment.
- Develop Functional and Design Specifications (FDS) for the static pressure equipment inspection services and support the Superintendent Inspection in tendering and contracting related activities; including attending pre-tender meetings, answering related questions, and evaluating of technical tenders prior to awarding.
- Participate in evaluating and implementing new NDT methods; developing and adopting new inspection approaches and techniques; managing and supporting special projects within the Division.
- Submit regular reports on on-stream inspection services contract’s progresses and highlight any pending issues or problems that need resolving.

Main Competencies and Qualities:
- Technical knowledge of Refining production operations and processes.
- Strong Technical knowledge of metals/materials and their properties.
- Good knowledge of the Refinery processes and corrosion mechanisms.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Conversant with Microsoft Office applications and SAP applications.
- Contract management skills.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Capable of giving strong attention to details.
- Strong analytical ability.

Requirements

Education Background:
- Mechanical Engineering degree, Diploma or high school or equivalent.
- Certified in API-570, API 510 , and 571 or 653

Experience:
- Fifteen (15) years of related Refining Inspection Experience
