FAAS professionals provide advisory services to a wide range of clients covering a very broad spectrum of services including:

•IFRS Conversion
•Support, design and development of accounting and reporting policies
•Contract accounting support
•Accounting Compliance Reporting (ACR) Support
•Financial statement close process support
•Consolidation and Reporting
•Transaction accounting and reporting; Audit Remediation and readiness

About the role

Today within MENA, many of our clients are focused on their future participation in regional and global capital markets. This includes:

•Moving to globally recognized standards such as IFRS
•Ensuring that their balance sheets give full recognition to infrastructure and fixed assets
•Establishing comprehensive asset management systems including the development of up to date fixed asset registers that support both accounting and operational requirements:
•Appropriate asset valuations
•Ownership and existence of those assets
•Deploying fixed asset technologies (such as Maximo) and other related tools (e.g. for fixed asset tagging) to ensure that all assets are understood and fully accounted for*
•Planning for corporatization and privatization particularly in regulated businesses and utilities

This role will focus on these areas, primarily supporting clients by providing guidance and expertise.

Responsibilities:

•Participating and/or managing FAAS engagements
•Collaborate with the partner, senior manager and client to determine a FAAS strategy that appropriately addresses risk and manages client expectations relating to deliverables
•Ensure that the FAAS engagement team understands the client's needs and expectations and that the work product is client-focused, clear, accurate and well-presented
•Ensure work is delivered timely and in compliance with regulatory requirements
•Deliver effective execution of the FAAS service delivery framework
•Work with other service lines in providing an integrated service delivery
•Monitor the FAAS engagement team's performance against the budget, and alter if necessary
•Identify and communicate relevant trends, developments and key performance drivers relevant to the client
•Consult with appropriate resources on complex accounting issues
•Participate in sales of new FAAS work

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

•A bachelor's degree and approximately 5 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 4 years of related work experience
•An undergraduate or master's degree in accounting and/or other appropriate academic major
•Strong advisory (selling) mindset
•Demonstrated experience within the Government Sector or Industries and Businesses with significant infrastructure and asset management requirements. A clear understanding and experience of the asset management lifecycle:
•Acquisition – procurement, projects and construction (major and minor works), leases
•Accounting (and taxes where appropriate)
•Budgeting and planning, including refurbishments
•Valuation, revaluation and impairment
•Disposals, change in use, retirements and decommissioning
•Assets tagging and hierarchies
•Legal and Constructive obligation reviews
•Maintenance and Insurance
•Periodic asset review processes including verification
•CPA/CA/ACCA certification
•Strong technical skills and recognized cautious risk management ability
•Understanding of a client's industry and marketplace
•Strong management skills to lead teams, delegate appropriately, mentor, review performance and counsel employees
•Fluent written and verbal English and Arabic communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills
•Ability and comfort level in researching client inquires and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies
•Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice, as necessary
