Power Transformer Design Engineer

Job description / Role

- Provide leadership and oversight for the electrical and mechanical design teams.
- Finding solutions for complex and special designs.
- Applying and implementing the design rules and acceptance criteria.
- Manage the design team activities to provide required project designs on time.
- Handling and organizing the documentations system of the design office.
- Support purchasing with the required technical information for ordering the material/accessories, and participate in the suppliers qualifications process.
- Support the factory operations by answering the technical questions and clarifying requirements on a timely manner.
- Support the sales by clarify and answering the customers technical question.

Requirements

- Bachelors’ degree in electrical engineering .
- 15 + years’ experience in power transformers design up to 245 KV and 200 MVA.
- Strong knowledge of development process.
- Strong knowledge of insulation system and insulation strength analyses, designing and acceptance criteria (between windings, windings to earth, between discs, turns and layers), in specific for Delta connections up to 145 KV.
- Strong knowledge of SC design requirements, limitation and criteria (clamping system, windings and leads, etc..).
- Strong knowledge of tank and steel structure design criteria (pressure and vacuum strength).
- Strong background with complex steel structure arrangements (Oil to Oil termination etc..)
- Fully aware of production process requirements (windings, core coil assembly and final assembly).
- Able to apply, modify and implement the design rules based on the production qualifications and improvements.
- Fully aware of material and accessories specifications, selection and criteria.
- Fully aware of OLTC and DCT specification and selection.
- Strong background of fault analyses and finding solutions.
- Strong background of analysis tools with FEM based analysis for both electrical and mechanical.
- Preferable to be worked as leader or manager for electrical and mechanical design teams in at least the past 3 years.
- Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC and IEE)
- Broad knowledge of conducting business in a multicultural environment.
