Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Providing of architectural support within a multidiscipline engineering environment, in answering for A/E reviews, preparation of engineering/design contract RFP’s, review of PC/EPC contract based design/shop drawings and materials, construction trouble shooting. Interfaces with other sections/disciplines of the department. Completed Work may also be performed in collaboration with A/E or other designer


Member of Technical Supports Section of the Engineering Department professional staff supporting all MYAS projects. Reports professionally to the Supervising Architectural unit. Interfaces with project management staff, other Royal Commission Departments and contractors. Interfaces with other engineering disciplines, project staff, other RC/MSC departments, A/E representatives, and construction contractor representatives.

Major Activities Performed:

• Perform Architectural work to meet the overall city development program requirements and standards.
• Review A/E contractor design drawings, specifications, and calculation submittals; and, coordinate the same with the work of other disciplines.
• Coordinate Architectural/Engineering activities with those of other disciplines and project management team within the Engineering Department; and, also Royal Commission Departments as and where necessary.
• Provide technical advice to other sections within the MSC and the Royal Commission as a whole.
• Prepares proposals for design work including sketches and costs estimates for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI's.
• Prepare technical specifications, conceptual schemas and scope of work descriptions.
• Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) documents with design concepts.
• Provide technical assistance during pre-bid conferences, proposal evaluations, and post-award or other contract conferences and value engineering.
• Review vendor and shop drawings, and construction materials.
• Perform field inspections and provide professional field support and construction trouble shooting as necessary during construction phases.
• Perform forensic support work and offer cost effective optimal remedial solutions.
• Assist in setting out Quality Control (QC) terms related to Architectural construction materials and their correct usage.
• Prepare interface layouts and provide solutions for conflicts.
• Prepare quality and presentation conscious technical correspondence, reports, and studies.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

• A Bachelor Degree in Architect from recognized university with 12 min of years’ post-graduate professional experience. Design experience related to large scale community development with emphasis on site development is desirable.
• U.S. registration in the appropriate discipline or U.K. Chartered Architect with Corporate (full professional) membership of the appropriate Institution is highly desirable (PE or PMP).
• LEED certification is required.
• The ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English is essential.
• Specific technical qualifications for the requisitioned position are identified below:

- In depth working knowledge of US Architectural and Building Codes.
- Considerable knowledge of the practices and principals of design.
- Extensive experience with building use classifications and analysis for fire safety.
- Must have sound overall experience in problems solving based field engineering and construction trouble shooting.
- Strong/working experience of AutoCAD. Working knowledge of 3D modeling software is a plus
- Extensive experience with building technology and materials with painting systems and other coating systems for Outdoor structures of wood, metal and concrete.
- Extensive experience with indoor finishes and materials for commercial and Public buildings.
- BIM experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of computers and basic software applications: MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
