Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

WSP is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to assist the RE and Head Office Commercial Team in the provision of quantity surveying services as part of the site team. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for all financial aspects of the project.

Responsibilities and needed expertise are broadly defined hereafter but not limited to:
• Should be aware of all financial matters and proper maintaining of quantity books and shall advice the PM and the RE regarding all financial matters
• Should have a thorough knowledge of the procedures and instructions
• Should be involved with the quantity taking for the design works as per the directions of the PM and the RE and the final design drawings of each design order, preparation of Bills of Quantities as per the Contract Documents.
• Concerned with the measurement of works carried out in accordance with the specification

He must check that the works are to the specific grades and levels, organise his files to include
• Records are kept and updated of work in progress
• Contractors requests are checked for accuracy
• Calculations relating to payments are checked and in particular accurate records of completed works are maintained.

• Prepare a BOQ Recapitulation
• Prepare Monthly Financial Report
• Prepare and maintain final quantity books
• Check the contractors final pay certificates
• Evaluate unit rates for new terms of work
• Check joint measurements for payments
• Compare final pay quantities
• Maintain current as built drawings as the work progresses
• Maintain the progress schedule and cash flow chart
• Assist in preparation of Change Orders/Variation Orders
• Assist in evaluation claims
• Give prompt attention to and accurate recording of Contractors requests received
• Check cross sections for earthworks submitted by the Contractor
• Liaise with the clients QS to ensure that the methods used in calculating final quantities are acceptable
• Check all calculations submitted by the contractors QS relating to valuations and in particular to keep accurate records of completed works.
• Prepare and submit reports of a technical nature when called up on by the PM and the RE

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Quantity surveying or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of (7) years’ experience in Quantity Surveying works.
• Must be fluent in Arabic & English
