Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Costing, Estimation & Bid Preparation
• Studies and reviews tender specifications and forward to Engineering Department.
• Follows up with Engineering and obtains necessary technical details to enable preparation of bid response.
• Reviews tower / poles design, weight and other pertinent information provided by Engineering.
• Checks for completeness, accuracy and codes compliance.
• Obtains clarifications/request revisions from Engineering in case of anticipated weight/cost over runs.
• Prepares bids and obtains approval from the Manager.
• Provides post-bid clarification when required.
• Attends meetings with customers for technical and commercial clarification as required.

Work Scheduling and Management
• Consults with the immediate head and participates in work load prioritization for bid/tender designs and communicates priorities to Engineering.
• Maintains regular follow up with Engineering for timely submission of required details.

Data Management
• Develops and maintains updated standard cost data needed to make bid for a contract/budgetary offer.
• Compiles and analyzes historical data for factor that can influence costs such as materials, labor, and location, duration of the project, transportation costs, packing expenses and the like.
• Teams up with Purchasing and monitors LME and other open market prices for steel and zinc.

Communication, Coordination & Special Assignment
• Liaises with the Manager of the department, Sales Managers, Sales Engineers and Marketing Officers for bid submission and priorities.
• Identifies and highlights cost reduction / cost rationalization and process improvement opportunities.
• Prepares recommendations and forwards to the immediate head for approval.
• Works on special projects and other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
• Prepares and submits daily, weekly and monthly reports on time.

Health & Safety Environment Compliance
• Ensures and manages work place health and safety norms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in Sales, Costing & Estimation, out of which 3 years as Costing & Estimation Engineer or equivalent position in a Transmission Towers & Distribution Poles manufacturing company.
• In-depth understanding of Transmission & Distribution Poles Drawings
• High Proficiency in MS Office Applications, MS Project, ERP and CAD
• Excellent communication skills in English Language (oral and written)
• High Degree of Flexibility and Team Player Attitude.
