Role Summary:
Reporting into the Lead Depot Manager, the Depot Equipment Engineer will be responsible for providing design review and assistance to construction oversight of depots equipment and associated facilities during the construction phase of a major Saudi rail project.

The engineering team is seeking a senior level, experienced Depot Equipment Engineer to review and provide support on depots design issues as well as coordinating interfaces with other Transit Systems.

The Depot Equipment Engineer will be experienced with metro depots and will have in-depth knowledge of the maintenance equipment to be included within the depot and a good understanding of depot operations. The chosen candidate must be able to interface with other disciplines, project engineering teams and effectively communicate.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Leading review of specific Maintenance Equipment specifications or contributing to the review of detailed technical requirement documents and drawings for all buildings, workshops and major pieces of equipment to be installed within the depot, to ensure that the design of the depots equipment and their associated facilities meets the contractual and maintenance requirements.
• Participating in design review meetings with the contractors.
• Participating in regular reviews with the Design Team on the progress of the design and any engineering changes within the scope of the contract.
• Maintaining records of overruns in the design review process and the cause of each delay.
• Ensuring that depot design provides for a safe working environment and that OHSE and Human Factors are included within every aspect of the design.
• Validating the whole of life maintenance schedule and evaluating the impact of design changes on maintenance activities schedule. Assessing how this will translate in to daily depot operations.
• Ensuring that the design of maintenance equipment such as train wash, wheel lathes, maintenance vehicles, lifting jacks, and other maintenance/inspection facilities interface effectively with the vehicles and the environment.
• Ensuring that the Depot Design is able to meet the maintenance requirements for the duration of the concession period associated with issues such as planned and unplanned maintenance activities as well as vehicle and component overhauls.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in the management of design for rail projects & will meet ALL the essential criteria below:

Essential
• A bachelor degree in engineering, electro-mechanical or related field.
• Over 15 years work experience on the design and construction phases of depot equipment (all maintenance equipment for Rolling Stock), knowledge of maintenance operation and organization for rolling stock and main other equipment (track and third rail for instance).
• Conception of Depot maintenance installations & Depot Equipment technical documents (Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Quantity and Interfaces).
• Study and review of the technical files of the rolling stock workshop equipment
• Civil and Arrangement works related to Electro-mechanical works of Depot Equipment.
• Supervising the electro-mechanical works concerning the rolling stock workshop equipment and maintenance installations including; erection, tests and putting into service.
• Reviewing of Operation & Maintenance manuals and As-Built documents.
• Preparing reports of Initial Maintenance Plan & Maintenance Facilities
• Supervising of Depot interfaces “Civil and Arrangement works/Electro-mechanical works”
• Follow-up the guarantee periods (Maintenance and Training works).
• Successful track record on rail, metro or related projects.
• Ability to communicate and defend positions.

Desirable
• GCC experience would be advantageous
