Job Title: Workshop Mechanic

Job Summary: We are currently seeking a skilled Workshop Mechanic to join our team, specializing in the maintenance and repair of both construction and commercial equipment. The Workshop Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a variety of machinery and vehicles, including but not limited to excavators, forklifts, trucks, generators, and other construction and commercial equipment. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently to ensure the reliable operation of equipment to support our operations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on construction and commercial equipment, including inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues on a range of equipment.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct thorough inspections of machinery to detect potential issues and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
• Complete repairs and replacements of defective parts/components in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and equipment history.
• Coordinate with the workshop supervisor and operations team to prioritize and schedule maintenance and repair tasks effectively.
• Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies necessary for equipment maintenance and repair.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to equipment operators on proper use, maintenance, and safety practices.
• Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for specialized repairs or technical support as needed.
• Keep the workshop clean, organized, and safe, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a mechanic, specializing in the maintenance and repair of construction and/or commercial equipment.
• Strong technical skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
