Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsibilities:
• Providing technical support across a diverse range of technologies and topics such as biomass, wind, solar, geothermal, hydropower, green buildings, smart grids, mini-grids, energy storage, domestic energy use (cook stoves, firewood and alternatives) and energy efficiency.
• Developing energy resource assessments, strategies, program designs and evaluations.
• Creating enabling environments for energy sector reform and governance.
• Strengthening the institutional and technical capacity of relevant agencies and institutions engaged in the energy sector, which may include ministries and departments, regulators, utilities, legislators, academia, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
• Conducting trainings, workshops, roundtables, conferences or exchanges on technical, topics for professionals in the energy sector.
• Advisory services for project pipeline development, project identification, screening, feasibility and pre-feasibility assessment and design.
• Assistance with the preparation of disaster risk reduction and hazard assessments and mitigation plans.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
• BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline, advance degree preferred
• Must have at least ten years of progressively more responsible experience providing support in one or more of the following areas: biomass, wind, solar, geothermal, hydropower, green buildings, smart grids, mini-grids, energy storage, domestic energy use (cook stoves, firewood and alternatives) and energy efficiency
• Experience supporting and/or working in one or more country in which USAID operates

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience liaising with key energy sector stakeholders such as local and national government, ministries and departments, regulators, utilities, legislators, academia, civil society organizations, and the private sector entities
• Experience as a Project Manager or Team Leader on large international energy project
• Prior experience supporting or leading USAID projects
• Fluency in a language other than English
