A/C & Refrigeration Technician

Under the guidance of the AC & Refrigeration Supervisor/ Shift Leader, operates, maintains and repairs all aspects of the hotel's refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, in accordance with Kempinski standards to achieve optimum operating efficiency at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Principal duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following, which indicates the general nature of work expected:

- Repairs and maintenance of all types of refrigeration equipment such as walk in cold-room and freezer rooms and other commercial/industrial refrigeration equipment.
- Repairs and maintenance of air conditioning equipment such as window units, package units and fan coil units.
- Carries out electric arc or oxyacetylene welding.
- Carries out air-conditioning and refrigeration preventive and routine maintenance. Attends to repairs and maintenance of refrigeration equipment electrical control system.
- Responds to a guest's maintenance request within 15 minutes of receipt of the same.
- Ensures that the supplied uniform is clean and in good repair. Always maintains a clean and tidy appearance before entering a guestroom or public areas.
- Ensures that the plant rooms, workshops and related areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Observes prescribed safety standards. Helps maintain safe conditions for self and others.
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Interacts with other departments when necessary to provide additional or specialized services for functions, promotions and festivities.

Requirements

Desired Skills & Qualifications

- Secondary School Certificate/Vocational Training in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning
- 4 years Industrial Refrigeration & Air-conditioning experience
- Basic refrigeration cycle and its application to industrial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
- Identification of system components and their purpose.
- Safety and control devices and their application in a system.
- Safety and control wiring and trouble shooting faults.
- Maintenance and repairs of individual equipment.
- Mode of operation of individual equipment.
- Performance tests on individual equipment.
- Able to work independently.
- Keeping cleanliness of work area.
- Accepts responsibility for his own work.
- Ability to prioritize assignments
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Arabic is an advantage.
