Accountant - Shipping Industry

Job description / Role

Objective: General Accountant

Reporting to: CFO

Duration: Permanent position
Desired start date: immediately

Main responsibilities: General Accounting

- To follow internal financial policies and procedures to ensure that the financial requirements of the group are met.
- Prepare management accounts in accordance with internal procedures including variance analysis to highlight key business drivers to senior management.
- Manage working capital of the companies by ensuring that all suppliers are paid accurately and timeously, all revenue collected within agreed terms and cash positions reflect banking terms.
- Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with agreed accounting principles and in accordance with agreed internal and external timescales.
- Ensure that monthly reconciliations are performed and signed off by senior management.
- Ensure that all inter-company balances are agreed with group-finance within agreed timescales
- Liaise with external service providers e.g. auditors & tax advisers.
- Prepare annual budgets
- Prepare monthly reforecasts and cash flow projections in accordance with agreed terms and to ensure that agreed plans are implemented to ensure that internal financial targets are achieved.
- Produce financial information for company board meetings
- Attend management meetings and contribute to discussion at said meetings.
- Maintain standard operating procedure manual and update to reflect developments within the group.

Working hours : Sun-Thursday 9am-6pm

Requirements

- University qualifications : BBA / BComm - Accounting
- Other certifications : CPA or ACCA
- Previous experience : 2yrs + in Shipping, Freight / Logistics Background
- Other Skills: Ability to offer Leadership and good negotiating skills.
- Nationality Preference: Any
- Language Skills : English
- Must have worked in shipping/logistics company or experience from an Audit back ground.
- Go getter requiring minimum supervision and ability to analyze in detail.
- Candidate who can contribute to and inspire the growth of the company to become a market leader.
