Employment: Full Time

To provide leadership and be a role model for both faculty and students in emphasizing the importance of life-long health skills. The Aquatics Coordinator will make every attempt to provide opportunities for each student that will foster skills, a sense of worth and competence, knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport and the arts, and most importantly, the principles of fair play.

The Aquatics Coordinator will act as a swim instructor, coach and pool manager. Responsibilities will include planning and overseeing the DAA aquatics programs and services, ensuring the quality and related safety of the programs (before, during and after school); act as the lead swim instructor by administering, supervising and promoting the DAA swimming program. The Aquatics Coordinator will also undertake the supervision of day-to-day operations of the pool facility, staff, supplies and equipment. The Aquatics Coordinator will embrace the school's mission and core values.

Key Accountabilities:

- To commit time and leadership for the successful implementation of the DAA's School Improvement Plan.

Key Objectives:
- Develop and oversee a vertically aligned swimming curriculum which runs K - 10.
- Responsibility for the Elementary and Middle / High school pools: * ensuring the pools meet the required standards *coordination of pool timetables in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Acts as a liaison for students, parents, teachers and other coaches for extra-curricular activities including ES and MS/HS swim teams.
- Monitor UAE Ministry of Health policies and procedures, and their application: *e nsure that swim staff, and any staff involved with swim teams, have the required certification via our provider partner, Hamilton Aquatics.
- Manage the budget for the Elementary and Middle / High school pools, in conjunction with the PE and Athletic Departments
- Provide and seek professional development opportunities for staff within DAA and GEMS

Curriculum:

The Aquatics Coordinator will take ownership of the swim curriculum, to ensure the following:
- Ongoing development of the curriculum to meet international standards and the needs of DAA students.
- Implement cross-curricular alignment throughout DAA (K - 12).
- Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long-term curriculum and facilities plans.
- Provide meaningful schemes of work for the swimming program.
- Create detailed lesson plans focussed around concise learning objectives.
- Provide study guides and tests that reflect the objectives of the swim program.
- Provides report card comments.

Requirements

Administrative Duties:
The following administrative duties would be under the remit of the Aquatics Coordinator:
- Approves the scheduling of all aquatic activities and facilities within DAA, both with internal and external persons in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Uses a variety of communication methods, such as; brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, to promote aquatic programs and extracurricular activities.
- Ensures effective and efficient use of the swim budget to purchase safety and learning resources.
- Acts as a contact for all school swim teams, to answer questions and concerns from parents, teachers, other schools and any relevant persons.
- Hosts swim galas in conjunction with the school swim coaches.
- Is proficient with the use of HY-TEK and other timing software.

Safety Procedures:
The Aquatics Coordinator will ensure that protocol is followed to maintain the safety of all swimmers:
- Review existing safety policies (PSOP) and procedures, updating as required.
- Compiles and manages a record of qualifications for staff involved in pool related activities.
- Ensures the swim staff, including any staff supporting the swim teams, have appropriate qualifications and training, so that they are able to follow health and safety procedures; o rganize a lifeguard rotation to maximize after school pool hours.
- Annually facilitates a safety procedure audit.
- Will maintain maintenance records for all pools and will deem. pools safe/unsafe to swim in partnership with the Facilities Manager.

Climate Leadership:
- Play a central role in fostering and promoting the values and beliefs contained in DAA's Mission Statement;
- Demonstrate positive leadership style and effective communication skills within the Aquatics department and with administration;
- Liaise effectively with the curriculum coordinator, deputy superintendent, and others on the senior leadership team; and
- Contribute positively to team building in the best interest of the Aquatic program.
