Architect

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and very proactive Architect to join a world renowned Architectural firm to support the Lead Architect of a very interesting and impressive project in the UAE.

- Provide support to the Lead Architect and management staff
- Review shop drawings, specifications, cost estimates and construction material recommendations submitted by outside architects and contractors to ensure adherence to contract and notifies Architect of discrepancies
- Review work of contractor, verifying specified materials are being used, dimensions are as drawn and quality is according to contract document
- Create and maintain records of specification and drawing
- Research building products for value and efficiency
- Assist in preparation and administration of construction documents
- Keep within budgets and timelines
- Ensure that all works are carried out to specific standards, building codes, guidelines and regulations
- Attend meetings
- Conduct on-site observation to monitor construction activities and to ensure compliance with plans
- Follow architectural trends and advancements
- Work closely with a range of other professionals such as building service engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors and architectural technologists
- Assist in writing and presenting reports, proposals, applications and contracts
- Adapt plans according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction
- Play a part in project and team management
- Prepare information regarding design, structure specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time
- Assist in taking appropriate decisions on the design, location, and materials for a proposed building construction
- Produce building plans using computer aided design software programs and technical drawing tools, when required
- Ensure building designs fall within the specified budget and requirements of a client

Requirements

- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field
- Previous work experience in a Design Studio is a distinct advantage
- Minimum of 5 years of architectural experience including use of CAD technology; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
- Very good knowledge of architecture and architectural principles and techniques
- Very good knowledge of types of building materials and construction methods
- Knowledge of structural, mechanical and electrical engineering relating to building costs
- Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Ability to access materials and products and make sound selection decisions
- Expert in use of software: Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Adobe CS Suite and MS Office or equivalent
- Needs to be a deeply logical thinker with an eye for detail and design, as well as the ability to see the bigger picture of a project
