Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• To assist the Senior Project Manager from the concept stage through to the operational handover stage to deliver the project/s to the satisfaction of the Client/s, within budget, within programme, in accordance with the brief, and in accordance with authority requirements.
• As a professional project management consultancy Compass represents and acts on behalf of Clients in delivering large, critical and highly sensitive capital investments.
• Clients do not take this lightly and thus expect a high level of competency and professionalism. In addition to the required skills, qualifications and experience needed, you are also required to represent the company in a professional manner at all times - including how you dress, groom and communicate with others.
• Given the nature of the types of projects Compass delivers for its clients, you will likely work on several projects simultaneously.
• To be an effective project leader across multiple projects you must have good time management.
• This means arranging all stakeholders effectively, planning meetings in advance, assessing and prioritising tasks, committing to the most efficient timeframes possible without overcommitting, motivating your team to comply with your time management requests and sticking to all timeframes set.
• Following project award, you shall assist the Senior Project Manager in project planning including establishing the project brief, establishing project budget, identifying project stakeholders, identifying authorities, identifying risks, establishing project programme and identifying all activities and parties responsible.
• A project programme shall be established by the Senior Project Manager. You shall monitor progress against the programme daily and report any concerns back to the Senior Project Manager.
• A procurement schedule will also be established by the Senior Project Manager.
• You shall populate the procurement register as required and track deliver dates against the project programme.
• During the Planning Phase, you shall work with the Senior Project Manager to ensure commercial and time risks are identified, mitigation measures put in place and residual risks communicated to the Client.
• During the Procurement and Construction Phase you shall monitor contractor performance to ensure cost, time and health/safety risks are being appropriately managed.
• You shall assist the Senior Project Manager to ensure that the client’s design brief is clear and comprehensive. You shall monitor the performance of the designers to ensure that the brief is effectively implemented and that timeframes are achieved.
• You shall assist the Senior Project Manager to ensure that the design is correctly developed and that is passes through the required approval stages before finally being issued for construction.
• You shall assist the Senior Project Manager in the management of the procurement phase, including identifying a shortlist of contractors and suppliers, compiling required tender documentation, releasing tender, coordinating responses to RFIs, closing tender, evaluating bids, conducting tender interviews and writing tender recommendation reports.
• You shall be responsible for the management of the Contracts and Suppliers registers.
• You shall assist the Senior Project Manager as required in the management of the execution and administration of contracts, including measuring performance against contract, issuing notices in accordance with contract requirements, managing payments in accordance with contract requirements, managing changes in accordance with contract requirements, managing disputes and resolutions in accordance with contract requirements.
• You shall assist the Senior Project Manager in maintaining the Projects Cost Register, including tracking budgets, tracking variations, tracking payments and reporting budgetary information back to the client.
• You shall maintain the Project Stakeholders register, including identifying all Project Stakeholders, their role, their involvement and their requirements to ensure all Stakeholders are managed accordingly.
• You shall assist the Senior Project Manager and/or Chair the Project Meetings as required including taking minutes, confirming action items, parties responsible and timeframes and distributing minutes within 48 hours of the meeting.
• You shall assist the Senior Project Manager in the development and distribution of weekly progress reports to the Client.
• To assist in securing repeat business you shall ensure that the Client you are servicing is satisfied with the service being provided at all times. Any issues with the level or quality of services being provided must be communicated back to the Partners immediately so corrections can be made. • To assist in securing new business you shall use your best endeavors to seek out new opportunities within the market and actively promote the company to potential Clients.
• You shall maintain an up-to date Company CV ready for distribution to Clients.
• You shall maintain up-to date Project Skite Sheets ready for distribution to Clients.
• You shall assist the Company as required in the development and continual improvement of its Business Management System, Website and Marketing paraphernalia.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the design or management of commercial, retail or F&B construction projects is required. Preferably within the UAE.
• A property or construction related degree is required. PMP certification will be highly regarded.
