DIVISION /FUNCTION: Veterinary Care
DEPARTMENT: Wildlife and Conservation Management Services
ORGANIZATION: Barari Natural Resources, UAE

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Reports to: Senior Veterinarian
Direct Supervision of: Laboratory, Animal care and Biosecurity

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
- To assist Senior Veterinarian and perform lab. analysis tests.
- To collect all animals veterinary reports.
- To reduce the animal’s disease agents.
- To minimize transmit of infection between animals and units.
- To locate suitable solutions at times of emergencies.
- To determine procedures desirable for the protection of animals against diseases.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To monitor operations of bio-security program at sections and on farm.
- To monitor animals feeding behaviour and ensures their good health.
- To collect biological material (blood, faeces, swabs, etc.) from animals.
- To manage medication and provide ample treatment to sick and injured animals.
- To develop preventive therapy program and coordinate to field veterinarian.
- To execute post mortems; submitting sick or died animals to Lab.
- To apply vaccination programme with field veterinarian, when require.
- To submit monthly reports (treatment, incident, postmortem etc.), & data analysis.
- To ensure the quality nutrition; monitor the daily feeding and watering to animals.
- To sterilize laboratory and surgical equipment.
- Provide post-operative care.
- To prepare samples for laboratory examination under a veterinarian.
- Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipment related to veterinary analysis and procedures.
- Maintain detailed logs of all Lab-related activities.
- Use computers, computer-interfaced equipment and high-tech applications to execute various tests and analysis.
- Carry out test of hematology, microbiology, toxicology, immunology, molecular, genetics and other biological samples.
- Coordinate with veterinarian and field veterinarian to schedule sampling and screening.
- Develop protocols for laboratory operations and procedures.

- Sharing latest treatment and therapy program.
- Conduct laboratory analysis and run animal health analysis tests.

Requirements

Education:
- Assistant Veterinarian diploma (Livestock management).

Relevant Experience:
- Minimum of 03- years’ experience as assistant veterinarian.
- Experience in analyzing sick/injured animal; post mortem and lab work activities.

Technical Knowledge/ Skills:
- Knowledge of Laboratory tests and analysis activities.
- Knowledge of livestock management, bio security and vaccination.

Computer Skills:
- Basic working knowledge of MS Office, and internet.

Language Ability:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in Arabic and English.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Laboratory and Field based duties.
