Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Associate Company Registrar oversees company formations and amendments services and provides guidance to the operations team on company law, company regulations, free zone rules and regulations and other laws pertaining to free zone operations.

Job Responsibilities:
• Ensures that company formations and amendment processes are aligned with free zone rules and regulations.
• Approves the company’s formation and amendment processes. Ensures that any non-standard applications/requests are escalated for guidance from the relevant authority, and prompt resolution.
• Evaluates the efficiency of process deployment and continuously seeks ways to implement improvements in formation, amendment and attestation.
• Enforcement of due attestation and true copy services on behalf of the free zone.
• Provides guidance to the operations team on company law, company regulations, rules and regulations and other laws pertaining to free zone operations.
• Works closely with Director Government and Legal Affairs regarding legislative and regulatory changes, and proactively identifies legal issues which may impact the business processes of the division.
• Develops and implements a communication plan to ensure that free zone members are well informed on the application of laws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures. This will include preparation of plain language guidance, information sessions, and special interest group member engagement.
• Advisory/consultancy services on the complicated and non-defined amendment queries for the internal/external clients in relation to existing member companies corporate structuring/ restructuring.
• Provides guidance and confirmation on legalization and attestation of cross border documents.
• Evaluates and recommends, where beneficial, the adoption of international regulatory practices in free zone company registration and amendment processes.
• Works in cooperation with Director Government and Legal Affairs to liaise effectively, manage and enhance relationships with regulatory agencies (including Dubai courts, immigration, land department, RERA, etc).
• Takes a leading role in identifying updates and changes to the practices of regular communication with local regulatory authorities, and works with free zone operations team to adopt the necessary changes to keep DMCC services relevant and efficient and to ensure adherence to guidelines and efficient progress of client services.
• Develops the department’s strategy and objectives with respect to managing branch and subsidiary establishments and amendment services. Monitors the needs and the day to day performance of team members and sets their objectives .
• Prepares and presents periodic reports to the head of department presenting performance statistics, together with recommended improvement plans. and to suggest and support any required changes.
• Responsible for managing the accuracy of the DMCC formation and amended company amendments databases.

Requirements

• Masters degree in law is preferred.
• Must have LLM or LLB degree
• 7-10 years’ experience in legal firm or legal department
• Free zone experience is a must
• Experience in company formation and licensing with strong understanding of local rules and regulations
• 3 to 4 years in a management position
• Knowledge of different licensing and formation statutory regulations and applications procedures

• Excellent relationship management and communication skills
• Ability to provide independent advice (orally and in writing) on highly technical matters
• Accurate, thorough and close attention to details
