Employment: Full Time

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently producing mechanical calculations required for the development of engineering and technical solutions to safely engage in the transport of heavy and out-sized cargo as well as other special cargo types requiring engineering competencies.

It also entails designing and developing new tools to provide fast and safe solutions for structural, mechanical and aviation challenges ensuring the compliance of solutions/tools developed with the OEM manuals, company operational manuals and international regulatory bodies.

What you will do:

- The job holder manages the development of Emirates SkyCargo freighter Load Control metrics in the areas of safety, regulatory requirements, payload maximisation, quality and timeliness of service. Provides recommendation on the approach that will be used for data capture on the above metrics, including frequency and systems.
- Develop and implement shoring/loading and restraint (tie-down) schemes and specifications for heavy and over-sized cargo in accordance with the safety procedures and operational standards. Produce supporting manuals on the new methods introduced and implemented.
- Liaise with the commercial team to obtain specifications of diverse special cargo items in order to provide engineering and technical solutions to clients on feasible methods of delivery, packing and transportation covering all stages including product design and manufacturing aspects if needed.
- Support and respond to the network with the technical and professional expertise in cargo related aircraft loading activities. Promote EK Sky Cargo ability to handle oversized and diverse unusual cargo by coming up with applicable solutions in compliance with the safety and departmental procedures.
- Develop and disseminate best practices in safety performance and engineering operational processes in new upstream ventures, including Adhoc and charter operations.
- In collaboration with EK load Control team, ensures all developed tools/solutions or weight & balance calculations are in compliance with the industry safety/security standards and approved international regulations.
- Supports EK Load Control team with the design and production of weight and balance documents such as Loading Instructions and Aircraft Trim Sheets in accordance with all safety parameters set by aircraft manufacturers and IATA. Ensure company standards are improved and compliant with regulations and industry standards.
- Initiate projects to deliver benefits with specific KPIs and drive system automation and other IT related initiatives (in collaboration with the systems team). Based on trends, complete root-cause analysis, audits, benchmarking exercises and highlight opportunities for improvements (in process, systems, people, etc.) across the business that leads to benefits in safety, regulatory, payload, quality, service, and punctuality.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
This job might be for you if you have:

- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent).
- 10+ years' experience Air Cargo/Logistics.
- Master's Degree in Science (12+5 or equivalent) with majors in Mechanical, Structural or Aeronautical Engineering is preferred.
- Experience in Aircraft Freighter Operations

You'll have an edge if you possess:

- Experience in freighter load master activities with a major international airline or ground handler.
- Advanced level courses in Load Master / Weight and Balance, Ramp Handling, Dangerous Goods.
- Handling / Cargo Operations Engineering and preferably trained in Rigid and Piercing Cargo approvals and authorisations.
- Must hold current and valid load master / weight and balance licences for EK freighter aircraft.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in Cargo Operations Engineering environment with experience in reviewing and approving the transport of rigid and piercing cargo.
- Experience in monitoring KPIs, SLAs, continuous improvement projects, etc.
- Knowledge of risk analysis, airline quality management systems.
- Advanced knowledge of related aircraft engineering functions, aircraft regulatory requirements, and related computer systems.
