Employment: Full Time

The Smart Grid Chief Architect leads the Architecture Design team and provides technical assurance and oversees the implementation of the architecture for the Smart Grid Programs and initiatives.

The Chief Architect is responsible for the IT and OT architectural designs across the Smart Grid Programme and for managing project deliveries that affect or are involved with the Smart Grid Architecture.

The Chief Architect is responsible for, and monitors, the architecture related work performed internally as well as by vendors involved with the Smart Grid architecture.

The Chief Architect ensures that implementations are architecturally and technically consistent with Dubai’s technical strategies, business strategies, policies, standards and procedures.

The responsibilities of the Chief Architect include:
• Develop and manage the enterprise architecture including conceptualizing, planning, designing and implementing complete and integrated IT/OT architectures across the Smart Grid Programme.
• Build a comprehensive architecture repository to support all solutions including technical strategies, technology principles, standards, security, policies and procedures that can be selected at system design time.
• Support for the Smart Grid program managers and their solutions with the implementation of projects designed to build and maintain the architecture of the Smart Grid Programme.
• Act as the architecture owner for the Smart Grid programs and as such evaluate proposed architecture solutions.
• Translate business requirements using methods/models to determine appropriate architectural solutions and take architecture and integration decisions based on open/industry standards, current and evolving technologies, products, patterns, approaches, etc.
• Ensure that individual systems can be integrated effectively, including the sharing of common services, functions, 'middleware‘, communications, security and data.
• Develop supporting technology roadmaps to meet business objectives and the Smart Grid programs’ business roadmap
• Implement technical risk management practices and ensure that all risks are managed through solution projects or other means.
• Implement technical assurance controls for solution implementations so that they follow a managed and structured approach from concept through to delivery and transition
• Adhere to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) related to Smart Grid projects in requirements gathering, planning, evaluating, designing, developing, testing, and deploying solutions.
• Define and establish roadmaps for analytics technology and tools.
• Develop data models using standards and guidelines
• Enterprise Data governance and approach
• Lead proof of concepts certification, vendor and product selection for data management technologies
• Lead architectural efforts, process and outcomes, including adoption of Enterprise Architecture standards, across development projects to drive adoption and compliance effort Required Skills
• Practical experience in the development of Smart Grids, implementation, integration and data exchange between all related systems.
• Experienced in at least 3 Architecture Framework engagements (At least 1 as stream/engagement lead).
• Masters the Architecture Framework concept and the ability to present it internally and externally.
• Practical experience in the use of common architecture frameworks such as The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is required.
• Familiarity with developing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based services within medium to highly complex application environments.
• Experience in the development, implementation, and management of Enterprise Data Models, Data Architecture Strategies, Delivery Roadmaps and Information Lifecycle Management
• Experience with architectural abstractions, integration with design, and integration patterns.
• Demonstrated understanding of system behavior and functionality across the Customer Smart Grid Programme.
• Experience in creating and defining new architectural models and explaining complex problems and situations.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting high-performing applications.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions/recommendations to business needs.
• Understanding of Web Services and mobile applications.
• Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and tools.
• Knowledge of software engineering, design, and testing.
• Experience with relational and Not Only SQL (NoSQL) databases.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent planning, organization and presentation skills in order to communicate to all audience levels
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information System or Computer Science/Engineering (or similar)
• Minimum of 10 years experience in architecture development, architecture related technologies and data integration
• TOGAF or equivalent certifications is a plus.
• Proficiency in a combination of database and platform application services is a plus
• Experience using large databases to solve problems
• In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with designing and developing enterprise-class application system architectures and large communication networks
