Job description / Role

Responsibilities:

General Description
• Work as civil design engineer in the civil engineering design and design management across various renewable energies projects from project development phases until handover.

Specific Responsibilities
• Pre-feasibility study, feasibility study and technical proposal preparation of civil engineering part of solar PV plant, wind plant and substation/switchyard facilities as well as the combination of renewable technologies in both of greenfield and competitive bidding projects.
• Preparation of technical requirements for geotechnical survey, topographic survey and hydrological survey, pile pull out test and carry out technical evaluation of offers from potential service providers.
• Participate in the developing of project general layout, plant layout, substation/switchyard layout, electrical building layout including but not limited to road, stormwater drainage system, etc.
• Development and issuance of civil FEED design of civil works, including but not limited to technical specifications, drawings, and other inputs that necessary for the ask for bidding from potential civil subcontractors/vendors.
• Preliminary design of civil works including earthworks, foundations, structures (RCC and steel), access road and internal road, security fence and gate, stormwater drainage, trench works (UG included) with reference to reputed international codes and standards and best industrial practices such as, UBC, IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, AASHTO, AWWA etc.
• Issuance of the preliminary design based on calculations, supervise and guide draftsman for the preparation of relevant drawings such as layout, architecture, structure.
• Development of bill of quantity (BOQ) for civil works.
• Technical review of proposals and/or offers come from potential vendors and subcontractors.
• For those works that outside technical consultancy service is required for the completion of works, responsible for the technical interface coordination and supervision.
• Carry out tech-economy comparison for the decision-making process of civil engineering design.
• Cost estimation of civil works based on the project requirements, BOQ and other applicable inputs.
• The integration and preparation of technical proposal/offers and solution of civil engineering design.
• Technical communication with tenderer, client, partners in civil engineering design, including but not limited to technical clarification (both of pre-off and post-offer), meetings.
• Site visit and investigation and the preparation of visit/investigation reports.
• Participate in the pre-qualification assessment and/or selection process of potential subcontractors/vendors/partnered consultancies as well as in-progress assessment and post-assessment.

Salary:
AED 10,000 to 20,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above, major in civil engineering. Master’s degree in civil engineering is preferred.
• More than 8 years of working experience in civil structure engineering design,
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the civil engineering design of renewable energy power sector.
• Minimum 3-years’ experience in the civil engineering design of substation/switchyard from 22kV up to 400kV.
• Knowledge and experience in road, drainage and other wet facility will take priority.
• Skilled in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Staad Pro, Tkela, Sketchup or other similar popular professional software used in civil engineering design.
• Work location: base in Dubai, UAE and travel to other countries/regions. Working in French will be an advantage.
