Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Operating as a member of the Dubai Branch risk & compliance team, supporting the Branch CRO in the compliance activities with emphasis regulatory compliance.
• Support the Branch CRO implement the compliance framework in accordance with the Group compliance standards and ensure its effectiveness.
• Monitor the effectiveness of controls in managing regulatory compliance through conducting regular assurance activities.
• Act as regulatory expert in the provision of a technical compliance center of excellence providing expert advice to first line on the interpretation of regulatory requirements and provides specialist technical knowledge and support for Branch activity.
• Delivery against compliance plan for the year including assurance and training activities
• Timely identification of material regulatory issues/breaches and proposing proper remedy
• Regulatory changes are proactively identified
• Effectiveness and accuracy of compliance advisory support provided to the Branch management and staff, while considering conduct risk throughout the advice process
• Decisions are taken pragmatically, taking into account commercial considerations, whilst still remaining compliant
• Maintenance of solid relationships

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the compliance function; preferable in the life insurance business.
• Experience in regulatory compliance topics including financial crime, AML, trade/economic sanctions, data privacy/protection and treating customers fairly both from a UAE and international perspectives (eg IOM, UK, USA Swiss or other).
• Working in a cross-cultural environment.
