Job description / Role
As a member of our Infrastructure group, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various infrastructure projects, such as: roadways, highways and interchanges; bridges and overpasses; water and wastewater treatment facilities; transmission lines; general/public transportation including airports, seaports and light rail transit lines (LRTs); and conventional and alternative power generation like wind farms and district energy facilities. You will also further hone your skills operating under various delivery methods including Design-Build, P3 (Public-Private Partnership), Construction Management and IPD (Integrated Project Delivery).
Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the Construction Manager is responsible for all aspects of the bidding process and construction of projects within the Regional Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be involved in the development stage of the project, and have a leadership role in the execution team.
As a Construction Manager you will:
- Build and mentor a productive, cohesive bid team with the ability to successfully follow through
- Responsible for ensuring a successful completion of Infrastructure projects, their profitability, and for retaining owners as continuing clients
- Responsible for the comprehensive management of bid schedule and budget
- Collaborate throughout project phases including planning, preparation, monitoring, analysis and strategizing
- Maintain client relationships through execution excellence
- Review and negotiate contracts & liaise with management and legal counsel
- Hire, coach/mentor, provide direction, and review staff performance
- Manage and control the project progress, costs and budgets throughout the project life
- Advise the Management team on project status and results
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in Engineering or Construction Management
- 5-10 years industry experience in a management level position working on Infrastructure (transport and/or water) projects
- Experience working with multi-million dollar projects
- Proven management of successful infrastructure and construction bids
- Strong presentation and negotiating skills, and experience supervising, training and mentoring staff
