Job Description

Director, Government Affairs Middle East

Oracle Corporate Affairs leads Oracle's engagements with policy makers worldwide seeking to ensure a regulatory environment conducive to the growth of Oracle's business. The Corporate Affairs team includes representatives in Washington DC, Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. We are creating a new position for a Director, Government Affairs for Middle East who will be based in our Oracle offices in Dubai or Abu Dhabi (UAE) reporting to the Vice President, Global Government Affairs. He/She will lead and coordinate Oracle's engagement with government officials, trade associations and other key policy stakeholders, working closely with Oracle's senior management in Middle East.

He/She will work closely with colleagues in Oracle's legal, compliance, corporate communication, and standards divisions, as well as with business leaders in Oracle's cloud operations and global business units.

Role and Responsibilities

- Policy Strategy : Identify regulatory initiatives in Middle East which could have a significant impact on Oracle's business (or the interests of our customers). Develop strategic plans - including on a cross-functional basis when required - to leverage opportunities and resolve identified challenges. Identify allies, ensure coordination and build alliances to affect policy changes.
- Political outreach : Manage Oracle's reputation with government officials to establish and maintain our profile as a trusted and credible contributor on policy issues. Represent Oracle before public institutions, trade associations, think-tanks, and industry coalitions. Develop and manage trusted relationships with officials, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Business risk & opportunities : Anticipate new regulations in the region and work with Oracle business leaders to ensure they are apprised of relevant public policy developments. Work with a cross functional group of colleagues in the legal, security, privacy, compliance, sustainability teams to develop policy positions on relevant issues for Oracle, including cloud computing, digital regulation, digital sovereignty, cyber security, data privacy, and tax.

Requirements

Professional Competencies:

Required:

- 6+ years of relevant work experience in a highly professional environment focused on policy or political work. At least 3+ years' experience in Middle East.
- High-tech industry or related experience. Good understanding of tech policy issues including Cloud, data privacy, security, AI and trade.
- Understanding of the political landscape and the policy-making process across Middle East.
- A proven track record of driving multiple initiatives at the same time.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - accuracy and attention to detail.
- An enquiring mind, eager to continuously learn about the ever-evolving technology landscape.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Ability to work with colleagues across departments and organizations across different time zones. Comfortable working in a virtual team environment, as an individual, independently and under tight guidelines.
- Strong team player, highly motivated and willing to provide help where needed to ensure the success of the team.
