CSS Technician

Job description / Role

Mediclinic Middle East is looking for a highly skilled Central Sterile Supply (CSS) Technician for a newly available position in Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital, Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates.

Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital is a JCI accredited, modern facility established in 1985 with a total licensed capacity of 85 beds. The hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour Emergency department.

The successful candidate is expected to provide high standards of disinfection, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical and surgical items to operating theatres and wards in compliance with established policies and guidelines including infection protocols.

Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience:
• Candidates with 2-5 years experience in Central Sterile Supply Department as a Technician with Abu Dhabi Health Authority (HAAD) eligibility or license will be given preference.
• Graduate of Associate Degree in CSS technology of minimum two (2) years course duration in an affiliated institution OR
• Certificate in any health related field with Certification as a member with one of the following:
• Certification by the Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution ( CBSPD) USA http://www.sterileprocessing.org/ OR
• International Association of Healthcare Central Services Material management (IAHCSMM) http://www.iahcsmm.org/
• Minimum 2 years experience in the field of Central Sterile Supply Department as a technician
• Working knowledge of steam and plasma sterilizers is a definite advantage
• Must maintain certified status throughout the duration of employment
• Knowledge of General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Dental, Ophthalmology, and OB’s and Gyne surgical instrumentation
• Working knowledge of microbiology, infection control principles, sterilization practices and inventory management
• Basic knowledge of computer applications
• Fluency in written and spoken English (Arabic language skills are well regarded)
• High level of interpersonal and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement for better outcomes
