Data Engineer Architect - Fintech - MySQL Couchbase Hadoop

We have a great opportunity to join an ambitious Fintech Startup here in Dubai.

The team are looking for an experienced and talented Data Engineer / Architect to join a multicultural team committed to changing the way the world uses mobile payments.

The role will involve designing and architecting a data platform to support real-time data on an enterprise scale. The successful Data Engineer / Architect will lead the build of this distributed data infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable and able to perform whilst handling huge, variable data-sets.

Some of the key duties and responsibilities:
* Build the data storage and processing platform
* Engage in performance tuning, and optimising data systems
* Manage very large datasets, including ETL, processing, aggregation, migration and queries
* Design and implement new features evolving the data platform product offerings.
* Deliver software designs with a focus on resilience, performance and security
* Work with Product management on understanding features.

Requirements

Candidates will need:
* Extensive commercial experience in building and managing distributed data infrastructure using open source software
* Relevant technical agree
* Relevant experience working as a Data Architect for ETL / Data Warehousing systems
* Demonstrable experience with data modelling
* Experience in working with Massive Parallel Processing relational databases (eg Teradata, Redshift, Vertica)
* Hands-on experience working with MySQL, Couchbase, Hadoop, Kafka
* Proficiency with agile development methodologies.
* Experience working with linux/unix based systems.

Startup experience is preferred, as is knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
