Data Modeling Engineer

Job description / Role

Transguard workforce solutions have been engaged by our client to source a Data Modeling Engineer. Our client is one of the largest telecommunications equipment and consumer electronics company in the world.

As a Data Modeling Engineer based in Dubai, this role will be responsible for working with Enterprise architect and Data Engineer to jointly establish and develop methodologies to maintain an Enterprise grade Data Model for Client and describing how data is processed, stored, utilized and archived. He/She will support creation of data structures, data dictionary, data mapping, data quality controls, data storage strategies required to support Client data lake setup for digital transformation program.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates who can demonstrate experience in the following;

• Understanding and translating business needs into data models.
• Developing best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
• Building strategy and process design for managing data quality and data history.
• Developing and maintaining a description of the data structures & data.
• Work on modeling/planning data architecture across the data lake.
• Working closely with business & enterprise architecture team to understand the requirements and develop/evolve data models
• Engaging with Client DWH team to work on propose improvements

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have :

• At least 5 years similar experience in a multinational corporate.
• Data modeler with experience of working with Big Data environment (Cloudera/Hadoop or equivalent).
• Experience of data modelling for SQL and no-SQL environment.
• Expertise in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical Data Models.
• Programming Language design and implementation experience.
• Good communication skills with strong analytical skills.
• Experience in translating/mapping relational data models into XML and Schemas.
