Desalination Technical Support Scientist

Job description / Role

Client is an organisation specializing in providing clean water supply, operating in industries straddling from Oil & Gas to Industrial Water Treatment are currently looking for a 'Desalination Technical Support Specialist' to join their team.

This role is predominantly aimed at providing technical leadership to support, develop and grow desalination business on a global basis. The incumbent will focus on providing technical solutions in the lab or on customers’ sites that address customer needs, solve problems and support the overall aims of this business. Additionally they will work with OEMs to ensure the company is well positioned to defend its existing business and support new sales, as well as have a presence within the global desalination technology community.

Requirements

• Thorough scientific knowledge that can be applied with good working knowledge of desalination systems and laboratory skills to solve technical problems predominantly associated with desalination (thermal & RO)
• Minimum requirement is a B.Sc. or B.Eng. in an appropriate scientific field, such as chemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years relevant company or industrial experience
• Proven communication skills: written and verbal
• Computer literate: familiar with word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and database software
• Must be able to credibly and professionally represent the company in external situations
• Primary area of responsibility is in supporting the desalination business by resolving technical support enquiries through lab work and/or customer visits
• A secondary area of responsibility includes support for customer field trials to approve and qualify products, and also dose optimize
• Acts in a responsible manner in keeping with Health & Safety requirements
• Must be sensitive to cultural needs of the region in which the incumbent is working
