Director of Engineering

Job description / Role

Provides a high level of property maintenance knowledge. Position has overall responsibility for maintaining the building, grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. Responsible for maintaining standards and regulatory requirements. Leads the emergency response team for all facility issues.

What you will be doing:

- Prepare comprehensive budgets and forecasts to ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the department.
- Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance, capital Planning
- Lead hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion of projects within budget.
- Ensure property is maintained in accordance with the Accor Engineering Management.
- This includes the fire, life and safety matrix, PPM and work order system.
- Educate and train all team members in compliance with governmental and safety regulations.
- Ensure staffs are properly trained on quality and service standards and has the tools and equipment and is empowered to carry out job duties.
- Direct day-to-day engineering requirements, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Communicate with all hotel department heads to stay informed of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests.
- Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Carry out preventive maintenance programme to ensure facility is maintained and in service for our guests.
- Oversee the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and maintaining "green" initiatives.
- May be responsible for hotel security to minimise risk of theft, crime and other hazards.
- Any other duties as may reasonably be requested by management.

Requirements

Your experience and skills include:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development.
- Excellent financial skills and ability to analyze financial data.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelors degree in Engineering required; Masters degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
- At least 7 years of related experience required.
