One of our leading Client is seeking an Events Manager to shape, drive and execute key cross-SBU (strategic business unit) Events. The events manager will bring strategy and customer experience together with logistics and quality execution to build the right experience that will meet their goals.

Events, done well, bring the Client closer to their customer and builds relationships — shifting brand perception and driving demand. The successful candidate should have excellent project management and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across a matrixed global environment.

This is a contractor role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and reports to Director, Corporate Communications Middle East.

Responsibilities:
• Consistently seek new opportunities to elevate the return for the Client in the Middle East across the spectrum of Events including inaugural events and office openings, cross-business tradeshows, and customer Roadshows.
• Develop and manage an annual calendar of all cross-business events in the Middle East, including budget management, to support coordination and alignment
• Drive a strategic view of how events should be a strong aspect of the marketing mix, and drive the agenda of Events strategies to capitalize on this important, intimate touchpoint with the customers and stakeholders.
• Examples of this include pre-event customer communications, customer surveys, event briefings for internal staff, optimizing brand visibility and placement and shows, guidance on culturally relevant certificates and guests, in coordination with Compliance.
• Ensure optimal planning, resource and budget management, and delivery of events across key markets including, exercising strong stakeholder management
• Collaborate effectively with marcoms leaders, Trade Show CoE, procurement, and external agencies and vendors to drive solutions and ensure a seamless experience for customers and other VIP stakeholders
• Drive productivity and organization of the Client events by creating standards, resources and process improvements
• Set goals related to events, defining what success looks like, and meet or exceed goals related to demand creation i.e., number of quality leads; attendee targets (i.e., new customers, existing customers with new contacts, etc.).
• Create an active learning environment while building additional capabilities across Middle East marcoms community, integrated into the PR, marketing and sales process.
• Articulate the vision of Events to business unit teams creating enthusiasm and champions among the extended teams.
• Contribute to the development of a culture of ‘Events Excellence’ in the Middle East, supporting the development of a high-performance cross-functional and cross-business delivery execution capability for the Client in the Middle East

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in event strategy and management — from large scale events (tradeshows, sponsorships, proprietary events) to smaller more intimate events (executive forums, hosted dinners, advisory summits, etc.)
• This position requires a strong balance of strategic thinking, creativity and innovation, detailed planning, strong operational and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills – collaborating, influencing and challenging the status quo
• Have a multicultural, stress-resistant personality, together with a natural team spirit attitude, achieving credibility and results through an autonomous results-driven approach
• Extraordinary communicator (both written and verbal)
• Creative and resourceful
• Data aware, analytical and insight driven
• Proven Project Management skills
• Demonstrated track record of success in all key areas of responsibility, consistently innovating new event ideas, incorporating the latest trends and technologies while producing results consistently on time and within budget
• Manager experience – ideally includes international team members and agency partners
• Have the ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines, and effectively manage projects to conclusion
• Have strategy and execution skills with the ability to operate strategically, tactically, and operationally
• Advanced computer skills with good IT skills
• Be willing and able to travel 10-20% of the time, sometimes at short notice
• Possess a university degree preferably in Journalism, Public Relations or Communications.
