Finance Manager – Golf Operations

Job description / Role

The main responsibility of the Finance Manage is the management of the department and to provide support to Business Unit Heads with financial accounting and reporting for the Golf Course. This role reports to the General Manager of The Els Club with a dotted line of reporting to the CFO - Dubai Sports City.

He/She will be required to:

- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
- Prepare all supporting information for monthly management meetings, executive committee meetings and audit, supporting information for all financial transactions
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts
- Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting
- Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy
- Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
- Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate
- Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner

Budget preparation

Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the bi-annual and annual budget in consultation with the General Manager and CFO
Assist Business Unit or Department Managers with the preparation of budgets for funding applications

Requirements

Person Specification

Typical qualities of a successful Finance Manager include:

A fully Qualified Accountant eg. ACCA/ CIMA / ACA
Possess good accounting experience. Excellent eye for detail, diligent knowledge of accounting regulations.
Ability to report to senior managers
Capabilities to supervise, manage and lead staff
Excellent commercial flair and industry experience in Golf.

The ideal candidate will be available in September, and will come with at least 5 -10 years experience in hospitality and golf course operations. Purchasing and procurement experience will be an added advantage.
