Finance Team Leader – Freight & Shipping

Due to successful business growth we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced shipping and freight Finance Team Leader to join a well-established and independent oil trading and shipping company. The organisation provides full supply, trading, shipping and chartering to their stakeholders from their Dubai location and has a strong vision to be the Middle East leader within their industry. With a team of 80 staff across 30 nationalities, you will be an integral part of the finance team alongside 3 other Team Leader peers and report directly to the Finance Controller.
On a day to day basis you will utilize your freight and shipping experience to support the senior team specifically concerning this division. You will manage and close finances for the chartered in and out vessels, ensuring strong attention to detail concerning cost, P&L, cash flow statements, journal entries, vendor balance reconciliation and preparation of timely reports. Tasks will also include budget forecasting, analysis and variants, alongside daily hedging activities for freight forwarding, derivatives and FX. As a Team Leader you will manage a team of 3-4 Accountants on a daily basis to ensure all vessel management and financials are update and entered into the ERP correctly, with timely execution of all finance deadlines in terms of month, quarter and year end. As this is a management role you will also develop strong relationships with banks, external vendors and auditors and the Finance Controller and wider Senior Team. An understanding of the overall business strategy and market dynamics with clear communication skills in the English language are essential for this role as you will also participate in the ongoing development of all finance procedures and policies as the business continues to grow.

Requirements

For the role of Finance Team Leader – Freight & Shipping you must have relevant freight, chartering and shipping exposure within the oil and gas industry and a minimum of 3 years’ experience expertise. You will hold a Finance Degree and relevant qualification such as ACCA, CA or CMA and be a fantastic communicator of the English language in spoken, written and reading formats. Strong leadership skills, a passion for motivating the team and striving to constantly improve financial policies and procedures are required for this exciting opportunity.
