Job description / Role
Taylor Sterling is looking for a Fire Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary engineering design, planning and consulting services firm in Dubai, UAE.
You will be working with a creative, innovative, multi-cultural and self-motivated team of fire engineers in Dubai. The team is supported by client's engineering teams located in 20 offices around the world.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering effective fire safety solutions for various building types whilst still maintaining quality and commercial standards. The projects will be diverse, exciting and range from conceptual fire strategy developing through to handing over landmark projects in the built environment.
You will manage your own projects and junior engineers being supported by the wider team as necessary. The role will involve interactive and collaborative working with our fire engineers and MEP colleagues. The role may involve the requirement for short-term travel. Requirements
- Degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent;
- Typically around 2 – 5 years’ experience in a consultancy environment;
- Excellent report writing and communication skills, be collaborative, be creative, enthusiastic and engaging;
- Experience of developing and delivering fire safety strategies for various building types;
- Ability to interpret various codes and develop suitable alternative fire engineering solutions with support from senior engineers;
- Understand and manage own deliverables, scope and good time management; and
- Work effectively within a dynamic team environment.
The following skills are also desirable;
- Knowledge of UAE Fire and Safety Code, NFPA codes and IBC;
- Has project experience in the Middle East;
- Good knowledge of engineering software packages (e.g. CFD, Evacuation software) or eagerness to ascertain such skill and knowledge;
- Experience of carrying out fire risk assessments, audit and due diligence inspections of existing buildings.
