General Accountant

Job description / Role

Charterhouse are currently managing a search for a leading retail client, whom are in the process of looking to hire a General Accountant, within their centralised finance team based in Dubai.

In support of the Regional Finance Manager, this Accountant shall take ownership of transactional accounting across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger, whilst managing the Record-to-Report function, to support monthly/quarterly close of the accounts and the finalisation of financial statements. In conjunction, this role will extend to areas of Fixed Asset accounting along with the oversight and development of sales journals and reports, in support of management reporting and MIS commentaries.

This General Accountant will also have responsibility for oversight of VAT filing, along with supporting the payroll and expense reporting aspects, whilst also having oversight of stock reconciliation and audit preparation from both a sales and inventory standpoint.

Requirements

To be considered for the role, the successful candidate will come from a background where they have exposure to retail operations combined with a knowledge of the Middle East market. Our client will look to recruit is looking to hire a qualified accounting professional, ideally whom is Certified or Chartered, with a hands-on ability to manage strong financial accounting tasks combined with an ability to manage and develop reports.

Applicants shall also be required to have exposure to treasury-related functions whilst also being able to handle collections and cash management. Our client will look for a candidate with exposure to SAP ERP, along with an advanced Excel skillset, for accounting and reporting purposes. The nature of the organisation will require a candidate whom is able to demonstrate strong communication and commercial skills to manage broad-ranging internal relationships and any external commercial reporting.
