Job description / Role
Swiss Rock DMCC is looking for a Graduate Gemmologist. Due to this role, we are looking for someone ambitious with at least 5 years of experience in the diamond industry, whose mother tongue is English (or ideally bilingual), can handle work autonomously, is self-motivated and has the ability and willingness to take great responsibilities beyond the given parameters. The right candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and detail oriented. This position inspects incoming and outgoing diamond and jewellery gemstone products while working closely with the quality and merchandise teams to process receipts quickly and efficiently and presents an outstanding opportunity to work hands on with our products.
The main responsibilities include:
• Sorting of diamonds
• Evaluation of stones
• Examination of purchase and sale
• Create the monthly assessment list
• Sale of diamonds
• Negotiate with customers and/or brokers for optimal prices;
• Build relationships and leverage contacts.
• Customer acquisition
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with a large international network and has the ability to negotiate and close deals with customers and/or brokers in the diamond industry. Candidates should also possess the desire, ability and willingness to take on new and additional responsibility if the role develops beyond its existing parameters.
The main requirements include:
• Proven track record of the whole-selling loose diamonds and thorough understanding of the loose diamond market and prices;
• Diamond-related knowledge including certificates and grading, i.e. HRD, IGIG, GIA, AJP, etc.;
• Well-organized, able to work independently, detail-oriented and self-motivated;
• 5+ years of experience in the diamond industry;
• Determination of supply and demand in international auction trade;
• Superb communication skills;
• Bachelor or master’s degree preferred;
• Focused on attention to detail, taking initiative and creating a positive working environment;
• Ability to multi-task and accept direction, as well as operate independently in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to solve problems individually and in a team.
