Head of Accounting

Job description / Role

Charterhouse Middle East are currently supporting one of our Consultancy-based clients, whom are in the process of looking to hire a Head of Accounting within their Dubai regional office. This role, supporting the Head of Finance & Treasury, shall inherit a small team and shall take ownership of preparing all the financial statements to complete all month-end and year-end closing processes.

The Accounting Manager shall ensure the required compliance and adherence within the IFRS frameworks. From a technical stand-point, this role shall oversee the reconciliations across the general ledger and trial balance, whilst managing the fixed asset register, across the sales and general ledgers. Within the overall job requirement, the Head of Accounting will also take responsibility for the statutory accounts, whilst overseeing the audit planning process, along with oversight for all tax matters, linking to both corporate tax and VAT filing with oversight too for areas of transfer pricing.

Requirements

The client is looking to hire a Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA), whom is able to demonstrate up to ten years of post-qualified experience, in which part of this time shall be based within the UAE and/or GCC market. This background will be within a Big 4 and/or corporate accounting function with a strong focus towards IFRS accounting, audit and reporting governance.

The successful candidate shall be able to demonstrate exposure to consultancy or project-based accounting, whilst also being able to add strong governance controls, for both internal and any external reporting processes. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent reporting and presentation skills, coupled with an ability to deliver regulated and compliant accounting records and audited statutory accounts. The nature of this organisation will also demand a self-starter with a strong commercial gravitas and systems-based (ERP) proficiency.
