About the Role
Jumeirah College is a GEMS Premium Secondary School which delivers the National Curriculum for England, offering the full range of GCSE and A level courses. The College has been repeatedly judged to be Outstanding in inspections. Although non-selective at admission, our students achieve exceptional exam results which compare to top UK schools. In 2022 99% of GCSE results were 9-4 out of which 55% 9, and at A level over 55% of all grades were A*/A with over 86% A*/B. This success enables our students to move on to the very top universities around the world, including Cambridge, UCL, Stanford, Monash and Toronto.

From September 2023 we are looking to appoint an outstanding Head of Business Studies & Economics to join the College. The department is a thriving area of growth for the school, with 8 Economics groups at GCSE and 7 at A Level each year. In Business Studies the department has 8 GCSE groups across the course, 5 A Levels groups and additionally offers BTEC Business Studies.
The successful candidate will lead an exceptional department which is both extremely popular and effective. In 2022 GCSE Business Studies achieved 100% at grades 9-4, of which 52% were 9-8, and 79% were 9-7. At A level over 54% of all Business Studies grades were A*-A, with over 82% at A*-B. 98% of Economics GCSE candidates gained grades 9-4, with 40% gaining 9-8, and 96% at grades 9-6. At A level 91% of Economics students gained A*-B, of which 51% gained A*-A.
The opportunities which Business Studies & Economics present for students is central to the philosophy of the school. As a result, this appointment is crucial to the continued development of Jumeirah College.
Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to have the following:
- A B.Ed. or degree and PGCE / PGDE or equivalent with exceptional subject knowledge.
- At least 3 years' experience of the National Curriculum for England.
- Experience teaching GCSE and A-Level. We are seeking to appoint talented, highly motivated and well-qualified individuals. You should have a proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching.
- A mindset which understands all students have the potential for top performance, and the drive and passion to enable them to do so.
- Experience which will enable a contribution to our enriched curriculum programme.
