Insurance Broker Company in Urgent Need of Head of Employee Benefits (HEB)

Reports to: Managing Director
Head of Employee Benefits Controlled Functions: Apportionment and Oversight, Risk Assessment, Production, Recruitment, Dept. Structure

Overall role:
The HEB assumes all day to day responsibilities for the running of the Employee Benefits Department and works with and reports to the Managing Director to implement the agreed strategies.

Key Accountabilities

Corporate Governance
- Protect and enhance the company's reputation and brand value through developing clear strategies, thorough risk assessment and effective management at all levels.

Strategic Management
- Contribute to the shared Operations development of corporate strategy, business objectives and implementation plans. Interpret objectives in financial terms.

Operational Management
- Ensure that organisation, structure (including the IT systems) and processes support business performance in the Employee Benefits (EB) Department. Provide and evaluate management information to monitor business performance of the Department as a whole and individual members of the Department.

Business Risk Management
- Ensure that business and operational risk identification, assessment and interpretation is undertaken regularly. Develop and maintain business contingency/disaster plans.

Strategic Capability
- Recommend service optimisation, structure and organisational change to develop and enhance the company's capabilities, competence and competiveness in the Employee Benefits classes of Insurance.

People Management
- Ensure that the roles, responsibilities and reporting lines within the EB Department are clearly communicated, and understood. Ensure that capability and competence is maintained.

Business Development
- To Produce Business and to support the production of business by other EB and non-EB producers.

Employee Benefits (EB)
- Provide strategic and operational HR service to the Board. Deliver best practice HR services to the UAE offices.

Account Strategy
- Develop overall account strategies and direct activities for new and existing clients

Marketing/Business Development
- Actively developing new business and growing existing business

Placing Strategy and Supervision
- Oversee and determine the optimum strategy and structure for placing a risk. Place, Monitor, supervise and guide account executives/handlers on placements on a day-to-day basis.

Departmental Production Quota
- As closely as possible, meeting departmental monthly/quarterly production quota

Account Servicing and Development
- Identify and manage client requirements in accordance with the terms of appointment.

Renewal Management
- Plan and co-ordinate renewal strategies.

Account Profitability
- Achieve optimum profitability on individual client accounts and the department as a whole

Account Reporting
- Monitor and report development, trends and issues in the client relationship.

Client Education
- Educate clients and manage client expectations through market, insurance and sector briefings.

File Management
- Set-up, co-ordinate and manage client and placement records

Supervisory Responsibility: Direct ReportsManaging Director

Internal Relationships
- Heads of other Departments, Board Directors, Board Committees, Overseas Offices

External Relationships
- Senior market company contact, Client CFOs, HR Executives, Finance Executives, EB market committees, Service providers (including Insurers/TPAs), EB Reinsurers

Requirements

Desirable Experience
- Executive and operational management experience in an insurance company or insurance broking firm for at least 5 years

Generic Knowledge and Skills
- Business Development
- Corporate Governance: Up to Director level duties and liabilities, Combined Code and/or the UKs Turnbull or most recent version (UAE version)
- Creating corporate strategy for EB
- Operational business planning and budgeting for the EB Department
- Business Finance for the EB Department
- Enterprise Risk Management: managing business and operational risk
- Legal and regulatory for the EB Department
- Business Process Management EB Department and advice to other departments if necessary
- Leadership
- Well developed verbal and written communication in primarily English and Arabic if possible
- Analysis and interpretation of management information
- Decision making
- Negotiation and persuasion of clients and insurers
- Change management
- In depth knowledge and practice in all MS Office programmes

Any new implementation of EB or otherwise software as may now or hereinafter be implemented.
