Head of Legal - IP Focus - Law Firm - Dubai Based

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Head of Legal with a strong focus on Intellectual Property (IP) to join our prestigious law firm based in Dubai, UAE.

The ideal candidate will lead the IP legal team and provide strategic guidance on all IP matters while ensuring compliance with local and international laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement legal strategies and objectives with a specific focus on Intellectual Property (IP) matters.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on IP rights, trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets.
- Lead and manage a team of legal professionals, overseeing their work and providing mentorship and support.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess and mitigate legal risks related to IP, including licensing, infringement, and protection of IP assets.
- Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements, contracts, and licensing arrangements.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in IP laws and regulations and ensure the firm's compliance with changes.
- Represent the firm in IP-related disputes, litigation, and negotiations with external parties.

Salary:
AED 65,000 to 90,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
Additional benefits: Will be dependant on book of business - reason for the salary variation

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Law with a focus on Intellectual Property (IP) or related field. Master's degree and ideally a common law admittance would also be highly desired.
- Proven experience (8 years) as a legal professional with a strong emphasis on Intellectual Property (IP) matters, preferably within a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
- Must have a transferable book of business
- In-depth knowledge of IP laws, regulations, and best practices, with a track record of successful IP portfolio management and protection.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse legal team.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities, with a proven track record of handling complex IP-related legal matters.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to legal challenges.
- Membership in relevant bar associations and accreditation to practice law in the UAE is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Arabic or other languages is a plus.
