Head of Technical design

International Design practice with presence globally, and a long established office in Dubai are looking for a Head of Technical Design to lead the effective management of the organisation’s brand and values driving towards operational effectiveness.

This is a critical integration and communication role, facilitating the effective management process and implementation of initiatives, ensuring effective information flows and decision making within the scope.

Contributing to the establishment of initiatives and drive them in collaboration with the regional leaders

Specific responsibilities include:
• Implement and advocate the strategic direction for technical design documentation, platforms, tools, quality standards and resourcing in the studio
• Ensure BIM standards and BIM execution plans are formulated and followed for all projects
• Review all designs within the studio and set out a technical delivery plan to ensure that all documentation is technically resolved, coordinated and efficient
• Oversee technical development on projects through each milestone with the Project Management stream leader that all deliverables have been achieved, are technically resolved and efficient to prevent rework or affect revenue recognition
• Oversee studio documentation including specifications, room data sheets, technical reports and calculations. Formally undertake QA/QC reviews and sign off each project milestone from a technical prospective including sub consultant quality of work and performance
• Oversee and assist site teams with technical problems and challenges on site ensuring that efficient solutions are met.
• Participate in the development of project bids and review project bid establishment
• Identify opportunities for research and development and coordinate with research stream on strategies
• Communicate, collaborate with and support regional and studio technical design leaders
• Provide input on staff mix and recruitment
• Collaborate with management and technical design streams for optimum project design, delivery and financial outcomes.
• Build a strongly integrated regional stream team holding collective responsibility for the technical design stream issues for the business
• Chairs regular studio s meetings, ensuring effective and regular at least monthly meetings
• Work within the studio executive to ensure effective operations across all streams
• Mentor and support local technical design team
• Be responsible for stream talent recruitment and development in their studio in collaboration with Management Stream Leader. Include regional and global technical design stream leader for key hires
• Contribute to regional stream reports and drive information from the studio executive and regional design stream down through their team and studio

Requirements

Post qualification of a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, with minimum 15 years experience, ideally most recent experience will be in UAE working for an international Design consultancy.

This individual will have experience overseeing the above responsibilities, with focus and drive for Quality Control of Architectural Technical systems and documentation standards.

Promoting the highest quality of output and ensuring the delivery of such standards in similar capacity as above.

Excellent communication and team focused delivery and mentoring abilities required.
