Employment: Full Time

Purpose and Scope:
This position will perform various activities to provide preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment as outlined in the requirements of a USAF contract. Under general direction and/or using detailed procedures and/or work instructions, perform simple and routine tasks or tests within, but not necessarily limited to, the area of HVACR maintenance work.

Essential Responsibilities:
Perform the following activities under specific direction in accordance with established procedures: Assist with or perform maintenance of high- and low-pressure steam heating system as instruction allows. Assist with or perform installation, servicing and repairing of systems as instruction allows. Will need to check belts and change filters as required. Assist with or perform mounting of compressor and condenser units on associated auxiliary equipment and components. Perform minor maintenance using oral and/or written instructions on HVACR equipment as qualified and licensed. Perform other site support tasks incidental to the HVACR maintenance task assigned.

Must be able to provide preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment. This requirement includes chillers, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, package units, refrigerant, pump houses, and associated components installed in various types of facilities including tension fabric shelters (TFS) at the assigned military base. Must adhere to the base's refrigerant management program to monitor and record refrigerant use, storage, and disposal of all refrigerant types IAW Clean Air Act and the OEBGD. Will properly dispose of all HVAC equipment refrigerant in accordance with CENTCOM and Host nation environmental regulations. Must possess required knowledge, training and certification in working with HVAC equipment. Must turn in spent or expired refrigerant to ECES Satellite Accumulation Point Manager for storage as hazardous waste. Must maintain and inspect all heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in accordance with American National Standards Institute/American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ANSI/ASHRAE). Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a standard security clearance, if required. Must have a minimum of a verified 5 years' experience and or 5 years prior military service in the HVAC AFSC/MOS with the following credentials: 1The North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or the Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC), or any international equivalent HVAC trained certificate, 2608 and 609 certification, or the EPA Universal CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certificate, 3Copper brazing qualified, 410K/Forklift Class III. 2000 - 10,000 lbs. certified and 5Powered Industrial Truck - skid-steer loader operators training certified. Must be fully qualified to work on the USAF systems they are assigned to work on or must have previously obtained at least a USAF 5-level certification equivalent and possess at least 3 years of experience. Must maintain a valid state driver license and be qualified to operate government general-purpose vehicles.Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least three years of job-related experience or equivalent.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical HVAC working environment on a military base with occasional lifting to 40 pounds, kneeling, standing and walking, sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under required deadlines. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; extreme heat risk and risk of electrical shock. Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with the military.

Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. Must have the ability to work well with others, to include the Government.
