Industrial Water/Wastewater Process Engineer - Abu Dhabi, UAE
Job Purpose:
The challenge? Help develop and provide high quality, leading edge sustainable engineering solutions to our clients for water/wastewater treatment applications in the oil & gas, power, petrochemical, and petroleum refining industries. Our Process Engineer careers provide you the opportunity to manage multiple small to mid-sized conceptual design projects, while contributing to client development activities.
Each day you will be an important team leader as you participate in the design, coordination, execution, procurement support, construction support and execution of multiple process engineering projects. You should be a self-motivated, detailed oriented, quality driven, team-focused Process Engineering professional with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering or related field, 10 or more years of experience in engineering and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities and a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each project.
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Our Process Engineers:
Perform process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects
Participate in or lead meetings with the clients and project team to establish project objectives and to coordinate and/or resolve design problems
Supervise, train, and mentor less experienced process engineers and designers
Develop process and hydraulic simulation models and optimize designs
Coordinates vendor package equipment, design, fabrication and delivery to meet project schedule and specifications including fabrication facility inspections and package expediting
Participate in construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, construction site visits, and design revisions/ management of change, startup and commissioning, and trouble-shooting
Write specifications and purchase requisitions for processing plants and equipment
Evaluate quotations, select vendors
Perform conceptual, preliminary and detail process design of units and unit operations for water and wastewater treatment
Develop design basis, mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams and P&IDs
Size process equipment and prepare data sheets
Perform heat and material balance, hydraulic and relief protection calculations
Coordinates details and miscellaneous design criteria with other disciplines
Checks and assists designers and drafters in their assignments related to mechanical construction
Prepares and /or supervises engineering reports, studies, calculations and checks drawings
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs and vendor bid evaluations.
Participate in the generation of proposals, scopes, schedules and budgets on mechanical engineering work
Prepares design milestones and schedules, staffing schedules and man-hour estimates
Requirements
Job Requirements/Qualifications/Experience:
Basic Qualifications:
Experience winning and delivering projects for oil and gas clients in the MENA region
BS Chemical, Civil, or Environmental
Engineering or related technical discipline
Minimum 10 years experience in process engineering for water/wastewater treatment
General experience with the treatment of industrial wastewater and produced water using physical chemical treatment, oil/water separation, softening, demineralization, hydrogen sulfide treatment and water reuse.
Proven competency in delivering design projects involving industrial water, stormwater and wastewater treatment
Sound understanding of business principles of consulting projects and related project delivery tools and metrics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex technical information in user friendly terms to a diverse audience
Proficient in using Microsoft Suite including MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the basic qualifications, we also desire the following:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in Arabic
Experience working as a lead process engineer.
Construction engineering experience
Comprehensive knowledge of applicable API, ASME and piping design standards and codes.
Demonstrated knowledge of safety requirements for design and operation of equipment and facilities in oil and gas, energy or petrochemical facilities.
Professional engineering registration or ability to attain in 12 months
MS Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or related technical discipline
15 years experience in design of water and wastewater treatment systems involving softening, RO, demineralization, oil/water separation, hydrogen sulfide treatments (sour water stripping, chemical oxidation), biological including MBR, and water reuse technologies as applied to oil & gas, power, petroleum refining, and petrochemical industries
Technical expertise to solve client challenges
Expertise in industrial wastewater regulations and compliance strategies
Education:
Required: BS degree may include chemical, civil, or environmental engineering or other applicable degree.
Preferred: MS Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering
Professional registration (chartered or equivalent) preferred
