Inspector - HSE

Job description / Role

Main Purpose of the Job:

* Reporting to the Safety manager, the Inspector will assist in overseeing all health, safety and environmental work pertaining to the construction of a large transit-oriented development program in Dubai.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

* Monitoring the safety performance of supervision team and contractors on site
* Monitoring compliance with all occupational health and safety standards and use of personal protection equipment
* Participating in internal safety reviews and site audits/inspections
* Taking part in accident and incident investigation
* Checking observance of the permit to work systems
* Carrying out specialist HSE training for staff on site
* Preparing site safety reports
* Schedule regular and ad-hoc HSE audits; develop program audit within the organization
* Monitor environmental control activities including waste minimization, and drive sustainability initiatives
* Development, implementation and monitoring of HSEQ procedures and policies

Requirements

Essential Candidate Requirements:

* Degree in Civil Engineering or any relevant engineering; additional certificates or qualifications in Health and Safety would be preferred
* Minimum 5 years' experience relevant experience in construction in metro stations or building structures
* Proven experience in managing all HSE matters on large construction sites.
* The role will be based at the offshore outfall site and shall cover the following activities across multiple work areas on site:
* Monitor the safety performance of contractors on site
* Monitor compliance with occupational health standards and use of personal protection equipment;
* Participate in internal safety reviews and work inspections;
* Take part in incident investigation;
* Check observance of the permit to work systems;
* Carry out or procure specialist HSE training;
* Assist H&S Specialist to implement H&S standards on site;
* Prepare Site Safety reports.
* Experience within a consultancy environment is preferred
* Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
* Experience of working on a large pumping station or other water projects would be advantageous
