Job description / Role
The System Administrator is responsible for the reliable operation of computer systems by ensuring proper upkeep, configuration, and maintenance of the hardware, integrity of the operating system, installation of approved software, including the virtual server infrastructure and network.
Furthermore, the System Administrator is the first line of support who deals with the end-user, and communicates back to the IT Department, on the day-to-day issues and problems related to IT and its systems.
The following are the responsibilities and areas of accountabilities for the System Administrator:
• Accountable for smooth running of employees hardware and software
• Ensure all technical issues or/and changes required are attended in a timely manner and logged properly
• Manages the day-to-day operations by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair
• Responsible for the installation, administration, and monitoring of Windows Servers across the group
• Responsible for managing cloud security and provisioning shared folders.
• Perform/test system backups/restores and disaster/recovery processing as required
• Performs system security audits as required
• Responsible for identify, troubleshoot, and resolve Windows/ hardware and Operating System problems and escalate to IT manager as necessary.
• Troubleshooting of IT related issues with Desktop Functionality, Network Connectivity, Software including Operating Systems and Anti-Virus, Telephone Systems, MS Exchange, Computer Hardware and Peripherals, and the likes
• Maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft technologies such as Exchange, Active Directory, Windows Server
• Provide exceptional service towards internal customers through professional interaction either by face-to-face, through phone, or electronically when resolving issues
Requirements
• University Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree
• Other certifications obtained: ITIL, MCSE
• Nature and length of previous experience: 3 years
• Specialist knowledge: Microsoft Technologies including Windows Server OS (2003, 2008, and 2012), Exchange (2010 and 2013), Lync Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, CIFS, Hardware level data protection such as RAID controller and snapshot technologies, EM VNX, HP EVA SAN Technologies, NAS/SAN configuration and management, Citrix Xenserver installation and administration, EMC Network, Symantec Backup Exec, HP LTO 5 and 6, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds
• Soft Skills and Personality traits: Excellent Verbal and Written Communication in English, Resilient, Adaptable, Team-player, Customer Service Oriented, Problem Solving Skills, Listening Skills.
• Language Fluency: English
