IT UNIX SME / Tech Lead

Job description / Role

Our client is looking for an IT UNIX SME / Tech lead to be based in their Dubai office.

Position Over View:
Provide UNIX IT advisory services. Develop new IT solutions, Drive process optimisation, use of new technology and efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Extensive knowledge of UNIX processes, ability to build a process from the scratch and implement across organization. Optimize security process with the help of new technology.
- Apply the architecture methodology for developing a UNIX IT solution. Ability to prepare the required documentations to support the solution (such as network placement diagram, user reference guide etc)
- Ensuring development of global solutions and optimising the reuse of existing platforms/technology as well as already developed solutions and functions.
- Provide the optimum solution in Server, Storage, Networking and Middleware services
- Good knowledge of OS Internals and understanding of the implementation life cycle.
- Good knowledge of UNIX tools such as TCP/IP netstat, iostat, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP and IT Incident & Event Management.
- Have adequate knowledge on performing IT Assessment of the IT infrastructure also having ability to guide the teams.
- Perform periodic review of the UNIX IT policies and standards to ensure that the IT infrastructure is aligned to technology standards.
- Provide subject matter expertise in dealing with client issues and help the operation teams in early resolutions.
- Ability to manage and lead individuals assigned to a particular project.
- Candidate should demonstrate good communication and writing skills.

Requirements

- Degree qualified – Any graduate.
- Communicative, written and spoken English
- Total 10– 15 years of experience with at least 10 + years experience in Unix Administration / 3 + Years in Team Management
- ITIL certification is an advantage.

Technical competencies:
- UNIX certifications such as SUN Certification, RHCSA, Cluster etc, would be an added advantage.
- Extensive knowledge of UNIX End to End processes, ability to build a process from the scratch and implement across organization. Optimize IT process with the help of new technology.
- Apply the architecture methodology for developing UNIX solutions, ability to prepare the required documentations to support IT solutions (such as crash recovery, system builds, process flow diagrams, user reference guide etc).
- Good knowledge and understanding of the IT implementation life cycle. Ability to perform internal audits to test IT UNIX solutions
- Good knowledge of UNIX tools such as TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, HTTP
- Good understanding of Incident, Change, & Event Management also root cause analysis
- Adequate knowledge on health checks assessment of the IT infrastructure and ability to guide the teams on the same.
- Perform periodic review of the standard policies and implement standards to ensure that the IT infrastructure is aligned.
- Provide subject matter expertise in dealing with client issues and help the operation teams in early resolution.
- Ability to manage and lead individuals assigned to a particular project.
- Candidate should demonstrate good communication and writing skills.
