The Role

• Investigate the facts of a case
• Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles
• Organize and present the information of the case
• Keep information related to cases or transactions in computer databases
• Write reports to help lawyers prepare for trials
• Draft correspondence and other documents, such as contracts and mortgages
• Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court
• Assist legal counsel/lawyer during trials
• Prepare for hearings, trials, and corporate meetings. ý
• In addition to reviewing and organizing information, may prepare written reports that help legal counsel ýdetermine how to handle their cases. ý
• Help prepare the legal arguments and draft documents to be filed with the court.ý
• Review legal material for internal use, maintain reference files, conduct research for lawyers, and ýcollect and organize evidence for hearings. ý
• Prepare trial documents or draft settlement agreements.ý
• Draft and index documents and prepare presentations. ý
• Must be familiar with electronic database management and be up to date on the latest software used for ýelectronic discovery. Electronic discovery refers to all electronic materials that are related to a trial, ýsuch as emails, data, documents, accounting databases, and websites.ý
• Help lawyers prepare employee contracts, shareholder agreements, stock-option plans, and companies’ ýannual financial reports. ý
• Monitor and review government regulations to ensure that the corporation is aware of new legal ýrequirements.ý
• Maintain documents received from clients, conduct research for lawyers, and retrieve and organize ýevidence for use at depositions and trials.ý
• Conducts criminal and civil lawsuits, draws up legal documents, advises clients as to legal rights, and ýpractices other phases of law: Gathers evidence in divorce, civil, criminal, and other cases to formulate ýdefense or to initiate legal action.ý
• Conducts research, interviews clients and witnesses, and handles other details in preparation for trial.ý
• Prepares legal briefs, develops strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for presentation of ýcase.ý
• Files brief with court clerk.ý
• Represents client in court and before quasi-judicial or administrative agencies of government.ý
• Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.ý
• May confer with colleagues with specialty in area of lawsuit to establish and verify basis for legal ýproceedings.ý
• May advise corporate clients concerning transactions of business involving internal affairs, ýstockholders, directors, officers, and corporate relations with general public.ý
• May prepare business contracts, pay taxes, settle labor disputes, and administer other legal matters.ý
• Deal with issues pertaining to business transactions. ý
• Draft client agreements, negotiate employment contracts or write purchase agreements.ý
• Review company paperwork, particularly contracts, and draft business documents. ý
• Research, write and edit commercial reports. ý
• Examine national, international and local laws to identify any rules they must follow or conflicts that ýmight arise.ý
• Write documents related to establishing or dissolving a business, merging two businesses, creating sales ýcontracts, establishing non-compete clauses or changing a business's organizational structure. ý
• When necessary, commercial lawyers collaborate with other lawyers, clients or government agencies to ýexecute paperwork or complete transactions. ý
• They may also engage in negotiations on behalf of their clients.ý


• Bachelor's degree in law preferred or 4 years relevant work experience may be substituted for each of ýthe four years of college
• ý3 to 5 years previous experience in law firms will be an advantage
• Good organizational skills
• Excellent verbal, written and customer relations skills in both English and Arabic languages
