Job description / Role
We have a new vacancy within our Automation Solutions business for a Lead Engineer to manage our Operator Training Simulator offering. This role is a unique opportunity to use your technical expertise to identify and define a need, and design and implement solutions for our clients. Working predominantly within the oil and gas/petrochemical industry you will be involved in major projects with IOCs across the Middle East & Africa.
You will have an excellent understanding of Industrial Processes and the Control Systems required to develop/execute the Process Models and Simulation scenarios. You will also be responsible to design the OTS architecture on Simulator projects and to evaluate the overall OTS solution during the proposal stage.
This is an autonomous, stand-alone role where you will build up Emerson's involvement in OTS/MPDS with our clients. Your responsibilities will include a dotted line responsibility for local and back office teams, along with project planning, scope, cost, schedule, integration & Quality Management.
Broad duties include:
• Defining MPDS/OTS Architecture
• Developing Functional Specifications for OTS/MPDS.
• Customer (EPC/End User/Vendor/Partners) Coordination to capture requirements.
• Supervise the Model/Integrated Model development activity
• Conduct customer FAT
• Ensure that the Scenarios and Malfunctions simulation strategies are developed in compliance with the Customer Specifications
• Engineering Estimation for the overall OTS/MPDS Engineering
• Conduct Kick Off Meeting and freeze the Scope for the Project
• Review Design Inputs
• Report project progress & issues to PM/EM
• Proactively envisage possible risks/issues in the execution of the OTS/MPDS project and initiate necessary action well in time
Requirements
To be considered for this role you will be either a Chemical Engineer or an Instrumentation Engineer with significant Process Simulation experience, along with a minimum of 3 years' experience with OTS/MPDS.
You need to be willing and able to travel for up to 50% of your time across the Middle East & Africa region, including countries such as Nigeria and Iraq.
This will be a challenging role due to the nature & location of the projects - you will be a tenacious self-starter who can create opportunities and see them through to completion.
