Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsible for the management and successful delivery of large, complex and strategic Flight Operations business programmes, involving substantial business change and transformation, executive level stakeholders, on-board hardware deliverables, regulatory compliance and collaboration with external partners.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Define and implement the e-enablement strategy for Flight Operations including:
- Delivery of the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) strategy aligned to the next generation technology in compliance with all regulatory standards and procedures.
- Delivery of the Flight Operations tablet strategy to deliver a paperless cockpit solution in conjunction with EGIT.
- The Airbus on-board EFB system replacement.
- All future Cat C dependent FANS solutions (regulatory compliance / TBD fuel efficiencies) etc.
- Review all Flight Operations Aircraft Communications and Reporting System (ACARS) messages and routing on and off the aircraft assign ownership and validity to control the substantial costs and look for opportunities to reduce these costs by leveraging other on-board communication options. Oversee delivery of any new on-board cockpit hardware / software solutions and be part of any dependent aircraft project.
- Where opportunities can be leveraged to drive cost reductions and productivity improvements.
- Be part of any future Emirates e-enablement strategy group to drive standards and consistency throughout the group.
- Through detailed business justification, drive business benefits realisation and return on investment for all assigned projects or programmes by ensuring all aspects of business change and transformation are effectively enabled and managed. Manage updates to processes and procedures for new or changed solutions. Apply a co-ordinated approach to delivery, driving consistency throughout the department and alignment to overall business strategy.
- Ensure selection of the right partner for every Flight Operations initiative by implementing a full and robust procedure that will give a clear, tangible, consistent and transparent output. This procedure will require working in conjunction with Purchasing and Logistics (P&L) to finalise negotiations with suppliers for contracts and legal terms and conditions.
- Through collaborative working within Operations to drive improvements, create groups through detailed stakeholder analysis, to create consistency and alignment on deliverables. Through these groups leverage opportunities within Flight Operations for delivery of business change and solutions.
- Work closely with the IT organisation to leverage opportunities within Emirates that could meet Flight Operations business challenges. Drive business requirements that are fully analysed, challenged, understood and documented so that user requirements and defined solutions meet the business needs and identify alternatives.
- Work in conjunction with Engineering to drive delivery of on-board technologies, potential Engineering on-board software requirements and to have clear visibility of any new factory fit deliverable that will have an impact on Flight Operations.
- Ensure delivery of assigned large, complex and strategic business change solutions aimed at driving business value by applying best practices and techniques in project and change management. Ensure regular review of project delivery performance, seeking out areas of improvement both personally and organisationally. Contribute to improvement of procedures and standards to improve capabilities, assisting the Flight Operations management team in continual process, quality and productivity improvement.
- Ensure that business requirements are fully analysed, challenged, understood and documented so that user requirements and defined solutions meet those business needs, identifying alternatives and added value wherever possible. Where it becomes necessary, take appropriate corrective actions in consultation with the department and support functions, concerned.
- Initiate and manage projects through all stages to ensure that their progress, quality and the outputs in key result areas are consistent with the scope and targets envisaged in the project charter.

Requirements

- Degree (12+3) or equivalent qualification; detailed domain experience.
- 10+ years of working within an IT, Engineering and Flight Operations domain with substantial domain experience of the following;
- Have detailed industry knowledge across the Flight Operations environment.
- Corporate e-enablement group.
- Clear understanding of Engineering practices and procedures to align deliverables and be part of any engineering cockpit deliverable.
- Detailed understanding of IT to ensure safe, reliable and secure business solutions are delivered on the aircraft.
- Experience of working with senior business executives and ability to influence change and direction.
- Experience in leading portfolios and programmes.
- Expert knowledge of airline industry standards, and core business functions preferred.
- Should be practical and innovative with the ability to manage cross-functional teams at a multinational level.
- Have detailed industry knowledge across the flight ops environment and build knowledge to be part of any future corporate e-enablement group.
- Clear understanding of Engineering practices and procedure
