Marine IT Network Specialist - VSAT

Job description / Role

As the Marine IT Network Specialist, you will deliver functional expertise, leadership, and support for communications systems in a fleet of vessels including all remote applications.

Description
* Provide technical expertise, direction, and assistance to personnel involved in operating and supporting all Remote Operations.
* Design & improve connectivity systems, including, but not limited to VSAT and extensions to corporate networks, by taking into consideration the bandwidth & infrastructure requirements, security and potential network expansion.
* Carry out testing and evaluation of existing communications systems with a view to rectify issues and creation of plans to improve efficiency of existing infrastructure and systems.
* Reports findings and make recommendations for improvements.
* Implementation of new processes and assessment of emergent technology.
* Analyse current infrastructure and improvements of that infrastructure or provide a roadmap together with the various stakeholders, based on global designs.
* Reviews requirements (e.g. bandwidth) then implement the new infrastructure on vessels together with stakeholders, based on global designs.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
* Minimum of 5 years of working experience with VSAT networking based technologies.
* Strong understanding of the network technology utilized by VSAT service providers.
* CCNA and CCNP certifications and a good level of understanding of Cybersecurity.
