Medical Laboratory Cytotechnologist

Job description / Role

Our client, a world's leading Healthcare diagnostics company, is currently seeking for qualified individual for the position of Laboratory Cytotechnologist based in Abu Dhabi. The Laboratory Cytotechnologist duties require the application of practical skills and knowledge and the work assigned are performed according to using establish laboratory procedures, as outlined manuals. Other responsibilities will include routine check of the following:

• Samples preparation and processing: accessioning, grossing, embedding, cutting, staining and labeling;
• Microsonic examination of slides;
• Filing and disposing specimens;
• Interpreting results and evaluating staining quality and positive controls;
• Verifying that the correct specimen is being processed for the right patient and for the indicated test procedure.
• Other duties may include the maintenance of instruments and tests records.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should meet the following:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification (minimum three (3) years training course is required);
• Current valid national license is required, HAAD/ DHA license if the candidate is in the UAE;
• Master's degree in Biomedical Science or a relevant clinical master's degree in a related field is preferred will be considered as an advantage.
Experience:
• For HAAD license for Abu Dhabi, a minimum of four (4) years' experience in a clinical laboratory is required;
• For UAE Nationals, minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in an acute care hospital is required.
Skills
• Knowledge of laboratory practices, procedures and terminology
• Knowledge of safe practices for working worth hazardous biological or chemical materials;
Language
• Ability to speak and write in English, a second language is an advantage.
Advantage
• Experience in an accredited laboratory, working under the supervision of a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology.
