Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Synopsis

Responsible for evaluating potential risks to the Etihad operation including Global Airports & the Abu Dhabi Hub, understanding the cost implications of alternatives, and providing solutions which reduce impact to our Guests. To liaise with a variety of stakeholders throughout the network and the Abu Dhabi Hub to reach balanced operational decisions and ensure any changes are initiated effectively and communicated to the relevant parties. Whilst on shift, the Network Controller shall be assigned Network Control or Hub Control duties by the Network Control Duty Manager.

Accountabilities

- Ensure that the Operations Movement Control system always reflects the operational realities of the Etihad network by monitoring and updating the information flowing into the system from the various channels including SITA, ACARS, and email.
- Take immediate action for conflicts which occur within the network, investigating possible options thoroughly with the resources and stakeholders available both in NOC and externally.
- Address and respond to all safety and security risks which occur within the Business in line with the company Emergency Response Plan and as per the defined Safety Management System.
- Utilize feedback and knowledge received from stakeholders and systems to reach balanced and logical operational decisions which constantly improve the network status and the experience of our Guests.
- Communicate with stakeholders and outstations in a clear and consistent manner, ensuring that any changes or disruption which may impact the network have reached the necessary parties.
- Support the network and stakeholders by responding to all requests for information or operational assistance in a timely manner. Be always respectful and professional in your communication, creating a positive impression of yourself and the department.
- Initiate new or revised procedures issued by Network Control Management immediately upon receipt, understanding their purpose, how they are to be used and how your working processes will be affected.
- Respond positively to guidance and feedback provided by your managers and adapt quickly to the necessary changes that are required in a rapidly expanding operation.
- Evaluate and understand the operational circumstances of our fleet and airports by utilizing weather forecasts, METAR's and NOTAMS. Take action for conditions which affect our ability to operate safely and punctually.
- Manage and co-ordinate the ad-hoc activities which Etihad performs including the operation of charter flights (both passenger and cargo), additional services for the purposes of repatriation and contingency plans for airspace closures and political unrest.

Requirements

Education & Experience

- Preferably educated to degree level from a recognized University or possess an industry-accredited operational qualification.
- 3 years airline operations experience, with 1 year in either an Operations Control, Station Control or Dispatch position.
- Knowledge of aviation weather would be an advantage
