Job Description
Post-doctoral researcher in Operations Research.
The Operations Research & Statistics group of the United Arab Emirates University seeks to hire a research assistant / post-doctoral researcher for a period of 6 months (with a possibility of extension) to start as soon as possible.
The post-doctoral researcher is expected to collaborate in an ongoing funded research project on stochastic inventory management and optimization. The project investigates how to optimize dual sourcing inventory management systems under uncertainty and how to achieve coordination between different supply chain partners. The position is for a period of 6 months, but it may be extended for another 6 to 12 months.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
- A PhD in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Management Science or a related field
- Excellent programming skills (preferably Matlab)
- Expertise in mathematical modeling, analysis, and stochastic optimization
- Research experience both in modeling and in applying heuristics and exact solution methods
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills (in English).
Salary and conditions:
This position is available for 6 months and will start as soon as a good candidate has been found. The selected candidate will receive a very competitive monthly salary, which also includes a housing allowance. In addition, the health insurance will be covered.
